I had dealings today with a situation where Bailiffs visited a premises in respect of late rent, the premises are a shop on the high street and the tenant had a particularly bad run up to and over Christmas and like most businesses experienced a cash flow problem, meaning his rent was 3 weeks late, as a result the commercial Landlord sent in a private Bailiff to distraint for the over due rent without first contacting the tenant. Just after I arrived at the premises and had a brief conversation with the Bailiff the tenant phoned the landlord and there was a discussion over the rent and agreement was reached to resolve the matter by a simple instalment plan which allowed …

The old system of Control Orders have come to an end from midnight in respect of terrorist suspects. The control orders were often the subject of legal challenge after challenge at the SIAC and the High Court. The new system to replace control orders will be called T-Pims, not sure what this means but the regime of the old orders will be assigned to history. Be interesting to see what difference this makes to terrorism laws.

I believe since the phone hacking scandal, the Police seem to be in the news almost daily on a negative view. Is this because we no longer have a relationship where they can bend us? Or a backlash on the fact the Police are now telling every little detail of the media? What are your views?

Does anyone think the federation are up to the job? With Winsor's recommendations of reductions with no compensation, surely this is a critical time to make some noise ... You may or may not have used the Police Visual Handbook. It is an excellent source of information for everything from Custody Procedures to offence descriptions and codes, to 'Toolkits' for officers on ASB, Roads Policing, Drugs, FPN and PND guides, the list goes on and on...! Up to now, it has only been available for use on Force intranets, which was useful for a bit of study in the station, or to help you find that Act that you need to put down on the PND but no one can remember! Alot of discussion at my station over the Feds ability to actually look out for us and a few internal cases that Fed Solicitors have messed up on (or so i've heard) I was wondering if there were any insurance companies out there offering similar legal protection other then the Fed for Police Officers. Anyone know of such a firm or group?

I recently had dealing with an individual who claims on his web site and Twitter to be a Paramedic however when I checked the HPC - Health Professionals Council register online the individual concerned is not a registered Paramedic. Does anyone know the legal position on the use of the term paramedic, I am sure I heard somewhere that Paramedics are protected by law in the same way it is an offence to impersonate a police, does anyone know of the legal position in the use of the term Paramedic by individuals, and if the term is used by someone not registered by HPC. What offences are disclosed ? And who prosecutes is it the CPS or HPC ? C.

Due to a home move, I will be leaving the Specials soon. It is likely I will join the Royal Aux AF. If I do, am I entitled to wear my QGJM and LSM? If so, anyone know the etiquette on where it should be worn bearing in mind it is not a military medal? Many thanks
