General Policing Discussions

Hey guys, During our CJ pre-read, it was suggested that we try to find time to attend Court, and take a look at an ongoing case, possibly speaking with the Court Clerk as well to find a decent case to watch. Is there any merit in doing this, and is there someone specific at each court (the clerk even?) that I could contact in advance to arrange something appropriate? I have some knowledge of the workings of Magistrates Courts based on a competition that I took part in during secondary school, but guess I should further this knowledge! Thanks, Adam

Well after failing my mock on theft I couldn't work out how a question of a woman putting a bottle of whiskey under her jumper then leaving the store was Theft when she placed it under her jumper. I answered that it was theft when she left the shop. Just realised that I looked too literally and the fact of the question is that it doesn't matter where she is I.e the shop as soon as she placed it up her jumper she was stealing it. Lol sorry just feeling rather relieved that the way the questions work is totally clear... Just watching a bit of Night Cops (in Wrexham) and seen an officer who I believe was a PC with The Prince of Wales Feathers next to her collar number.. Anyone know why this is? Never seen anything like it before.

I have only recently completed my training and I am still on PDU. I'm currently applying for teacher training, working full time, and completing a full time degree at home. Basically, I am doing too much and I am looking into taking a career break from the Specials. Does anyone know how long a career break can be? Hello I was talking to my sister today, saying that I had started my hep B injections when she asked about hep A and hep C. What is the stance on hep A and C? Is it best to get injections for all Hepatitis? and has anyone had all the injections. :D

Hi members, I just wanted to ask, for the most experienced of you, do you know if Met police Specials ever take part in plain clothes operations/duty? I have a number of relatives in the Met and as they did not take the Specials route to become regulars, they are unsure. Hi All, I've just received a Divisonal Commanders Commendation from the Chief Superindendent today which was really good! I received this for recognition for my assistance, whilst off duty, in the apprehension of an offender. I'm coming up to nearly a year in service with Humberside. How many of you have received commendations and what for? :D

Been issued a Sepura handset. Know there are a number of things that you can do with them - (feel frre to add any non operational compromising tips you have learn't with them) One thing I need to try do is adjust the volume properly. It seems you can't turn it down enough and can't turn it up enough. Bit compromised in one ear due to gun fire years ago. Doesn't affect me operationally but have to put ear piece in that one, ok during normal activities but find that either can't turn down enough when speaking to someone or can't turn up enough to hear over sirens and shouting in public order incidents.
