I often spend time in Pembrokeshire and wondered if it would be possible to occasionally allocate some of my 16 hours a month to Dyfed Powys Police?

Over the last couple of weeks, I and a few of the other mods have noticed that spam postings to the forum are being voted down. This is merely a waste of a vote. Remember you only get 5 of each in any 24 hour period, so to waste them on what is quite clearly spam seems a bit pointless. Far better to hit the "report" button, and then we'll remove it. It might also be helpful to add a post to the thread to tell everyone else that you've reported it, this a) saves them a job. And b) means we don't get 20 reports, all for the same post. Once it's been reported, if we haven't spotted it ourselves already, it will be on the list for removal. As soon as one of us reads the r…

Hey! I'm new to the site and was just wondering if anyone has the same training start date as me (feb 11th) at Hendon? I'm doing the 23 week course and am a little nervous as to what I should expect! Apparently there is reading and things to do before the first session but I haven't received anything through? Any advice would be great and would also be nice to hear from anyone with the same dates as me aswell

Not sure if this has been discussed before but here goes! I had a thought the other day that no current police shows on TV that I know of have ever spent any time filming Specials on duty. I'm talking about shows like Coppers and Traffic Cops. I know that at some stage Specials may have been on these shows indirectly if you like but I was thinking why not have a whole programme devoted to showing Specials in action! Discuss!

Just playing Devil's advocate here as myself and a house member had opposing views of the driver in the video below. Do you think waving to the camera demonstrates that the officer isn't concentrating on the road? Taking hands off wheel :o ? He is aware of his surroundings? Has ability to wave and still uphold good driving skill?

Evening all, Any Surrey officers on this forum would know that this link is worrying, My link These are not absolute by any means as a Surrey Reg myself these were issued to officers around 2001/2 although the old style are still worn by officers in the job. I have reported the item to ebay as these could seriously cause problems to us in Surrey if they fell into the wrong hands. I would strongly advise others to report this so we can get that item off the internet.

I think there has been too much scare-mongering from the media of transport chaos during the Olympics. I think most commuters going to work will not be affected as most of the events start after rush hour so visitors will travel after the main morning rush hour. Also in the evening most visitors will stay at the Olympic Park so commuters would come home before them.

Hi all, just had my first defensive tactics weekend and had a powerpoint presentation which mentioned excited delirium. We were told what it was and what to look out for as symptoms. (info can be found on wikipedia for those not in the know yet). What i would like to know is, have you ever had dealings with or heard of anyone who has had dealings with someone with excited delirium? If so, what happened and how often do these types of things occur? (for instance, is it a weekly occurance in a town or an annual occurance, or is it quite rare to get these cases at all?)

Lately I've noticed a lot of Specials I've worked with saying things like 'Only four hours left of shift' 'I wish I was back in bed' and doing things like actively avoiding calls/areas that would likely yield an arrest a good four hours before the end of the shift and taking really long refs breaks. Sometimes it feels like they're trying to act like old sweats and sometimes it just feels like they're being lazy and makes me wonder why they're turning up if they're just going to complain about it. As someone that does this to try and get stuff done and make a difference, meeting this kind of negative attitude is a real bring-down. I've even had stuff like a special I…

Hi guys I have my competancy interview on Tuesday, really nervous has any one got any tips? how did yours go?

Was having a chat with a few colleagues the other day, and we got onto the topic of how many hours they put in a week/month, and it got me thinking.. How many hours/shifts do you do a week/month and how pro active are you in making arrests? Are there any of you out there who are mad enough to do it 3/4 times a week? I average about 4 shifts a month, would like to do more, just dont have the time!

Well after being part of my 1st interview the other day, with a very unhelpful "customer" who didn't say very much thanks to the advice from his solicitor, it got me thinking what must the mindset of these people be?! How could you go home knowing you've just got someone off of something that everyone knows they have done?! It's just beyond me how they can go home and not question their job! Getting older is making me very synical!!!

Spotted this video on Youtube, but its not the video I am appalled by its the comments. Now I'm no law expert but surely Youtube have a responsability for this? Cant see a "report abuse" for comments, only on video!
