A very helpful PC at my training for SC recommended a book to us, but I am struggling to find the exact one. Hey all been a while since i posted something. I just wanted to ask how many different sections there are when arresting someone? i,e "im arresting you under section..." . How do you learn them all? Is there a certain ammount you need to memorise before you can pass out and get your warrant card? Any tips or sites where i can learn them now? Despite the House of Lords voicing their concerns about the elected Police and Crime Commissioner scheme, it is still going ahead and at the time of writing the polls open in 270 days. I live in Cumbria and as far as I know, nobody has announced their intentions to run for the position. What are your opinions on the role? I know most of you may feel strongly negative about the role but it is going ahead and there isn't anything that is going to stop it. Not sure if there is a post on here about this but i am just wondering what does everyone do for there employment and how flexible they are at giving you time off? I work for HMRC and well so far they have not been helpful with possible days off I need!!!

Is there anywhere where I can find court results online? I wondered if you could find court listings anywhere as I'm interested in a case that I was involved in and found out that there was a hearing yesterday on this website: http://www.thelawpages.com. The entry next to yesterday's hearing said: "Plea and case management hearing - Hearing finished for *NAME*" Which I assume meant he plead guilty as most of the others have "adjourned" next to them. New guy question What checks can be done on, for example, a Polish (other nations are available) car and its driver? I'm guessing we cannot do insurance checks/ licence checks as we don't have their details on PNC. They could drive around forever with no insurance/licence? cheers

Evening all, I've got a shift coming up in a town centre on a Saturday night to get some different experience to where I usually am, and thought it would be a good idea to get some advice on what offences it would be worth reading up on before hand. The town that I'm based at, doesn't really have a night life, and as such I don't have much experience with public order offences, main reason for me going over for the night. Ones that jump out at me are, POA and drunk and disorderly. Are there any others that you would recommend I have a look at? Also, any tips on remembering which offence is what POA would be helpful. This point was raised on a car forum, but people seem to be unsure of a definitive answer, so as i'm curious i'm coming to find out. So the story goes .... an unmarked police car was flashing a sporty car. I assume they had the blue flashers in their grille. Anyway, the chap pulls over, only for the "police" to be thieves who stole his keys & car from him. Most people would pull over. If it's a marked car, then it's 99.9% likely to be the police, unless they've been car-jacked lol. Afternoon, I thought I'd quickly post a topic just to thank everyone who contributed to the site and to the friendly members of the forum for their help during my application. It's always nice to be thanked so I feel it is only right to thank you people for the support with all the 'rookie' questions I have had and with all the info here and on the actual site about the whole recruitment process. Hi There, Last time I was at work, we had a group of around 10-15 mixed age youths milling about outside the Tesco store, throwing ice balls at each other and generally being a pain. Now, being in my Tesco uniform, and faced with a group of 10+ young people throwing verbals at the duty manager and myself, i ended up calling 101. I have heard about a certain power we have to remove young people (under 16) from a location and take them home, with no need to have to show any offences have occurred. Anyone have any idea where this power comes from? Matt.

Doing some study on firearms Legislation from Blackstones I read about this organisation and a corresponding organisation in Birmingham. Apparently, under the Firearms (Ammendment) Act 1988 they are the only company allowed to certify a firearm as "deactivated". [blackkstones2012 1.7.2.2] I personally have never heard of them and via google the only references I can find are ones referring to the Act. All a bit strange. Do they have a website? Any contact details? or does anyone have any more info on them? Indeed, do they still exist?
