Hi all, I have been told by my Sargent that we (cadets) are going to help with the Olympics. shouldn't we be issued with hi-viz jackets and radio as we are currently not issued with them? Not sure what our role will be but am presuming security? anyone else in the Met police cadet?

I'm interested to see if there are any SC's out there that are also qualified CFR's (Community First Responders). If you are do you carry your CFR kit with you if your out in a police vehicle, just in case you come across something? I live in a rural village so being a CFR helps support our local ambulance service but also a SC so having multiple skills can only be a benefit.

Has anyone used a Vievu LE2 body camera in their Force and are you aware if there are any issues in regard to the USB port? Ours are failing a light and we are getting a lot of stick from line management about being "heavy handed", I dont believe we are and consider it more a design problem. Your thoughts?

Topic. I'm going to Mags for the first time on Monday, and I'm absolutely bricking it. Many questions and nervous thoughts. I have been advised to take my notebook of the incident date with me, paper-clipped so that it shows that page only. I've also been advised to keep answers short. To make matters worse, I've also received an emailed court warning to attend Crown Court next month- but I am the only officer named on it! I'm pretty certain there's a saying about buses, they don't come for ages- but... Many thanks in advance for advice. Hyde

Hey everyone, I've passed a papersift to apply for a role as an Investigator for the Public Protection Unit, and I was wondering if anybody could give me a step in the right direction of what type of questions may be asked in interview or specific areas to revise? As the PPU deal with a lot of things, my mind has literally exploded of all the areas I should be revising! I'm still a PC and I am aware there are loads of DC's applying so the chances of me getting through maybe slim. I would just like to get some advice from people who have applied or recently moved onto the department. Many Thanks Chaz

How do the police force look upon ex army in terms of recruitment. Is it a good or bad thing? I've also heard rumours that ex army can't ever be armed as they are perceived to be "gun ho". I'm getting to the point of my army career where I'm starting to look elsewhere, the police service, civil nuclear constabulary or highways agency all appeal to me.

I am hoping to purchase a lot of good books regarding the duties of a special constable, however do you know of any free resources on the Internet regarding law and the basic training principles that you will taught in the training and assessments? How you would handle a situation, something like that. I can easily find tutorials on programming, but policing is a little bit... harder. I have done some searching, but a lot of it relates to policies and so it shows official documents, etc; not really what I am looking for. PDFs are also excellent.

I believe the form is an MG19? I was booted in the backof legs at custody by someone out of the blue. Hurt a bit, nothing major. Court today for it, bloke has 4 previous for Assault police and has done time before for it. Lots of previous D&D. I nicked him for D&D and assault police. After some compensation from it, I havn't added it to the file. Can I take it with me on the day and give to magistrate or anything similar?

Anyone got any tips on clothes to wear over your body armour when undercover? Not matter how baggy the hoodie is it still looks like I've got body armour on and it gives me away a mile away.

Just watching on the TV a heartbreaking story of a young girl, Cassie McCord, killed by an elderly driver a year ago today. Cassie had been walking with friends when the 87-year-old driver left the road and hit her in Colchester, Essex. The tragedy happened 3 days after the pensioner drove into trees when he overshot the entrance to a petrol station. Police discovered he could not read a number plate from 20m (legal minimum). He was advised not to drive whilst his details were forwarded to the DVLA but the police had no power to actually stop him....... Should the law be changed in respect of this? 'Cassie's Law' is campaiging for the Government to give police new power…

Does anyone have a clue what he's going on about? Overall, I think he's a nut job to be fair, accusing NWP of being corrupt.
