Good Morning All. I have been told I need to surrender my warrant card as I need to take a break from SC duties. Does that mean I can only intervene in possible situations as a civilian? and use any person powers if needed? Apologies if this should be in scenario city. Thanks.

While trolling the house of common website, I've come across this document that mentions the current strength of different police forces in E&W. It gives a rather very grim picture about where levels are heading I know that the majority are going into negative trending, but they will still need to recruit to compensate for retired and transfeering officers EDITED: for typos

Hello. Sorry, I wasn't sure whether this should've been posted in the Recruitment section or here. I'm 17 and I currently do Business level 3 in college (on my second year) and work as a sales assistant at a charity shop (paid). I've always wanted to join the police, and up until now I've realised how important it is to start now. I'm going to try join as a special at the Norfolk Constabulary and then attempt to get a regular position as time goes on. Recruitment for Norfolk Constabulary opened last month actually which I was quite shocked about as I heard they weren't going to be recruiting until another 3 years but I don't think I'd be able to apply now since I'm un…

Hello. Does anyone know if there is some sort of 'police database' that has a list of staff? I've spent a couple of hours looking around I haven't been very successful. My grandad (died a while ago) was a chief inspector at the MET and I was interested if there would be any record about him, would anyone know if such record would exist? I'm going to presume that having a relative in the force previously would help me more with my career as a special/reg

I was curious to know what equipment plain clothes constables carry. I was in London the other month and saw 2 of them with batons and cuffs but nothing else. Are they forbidden to carry cs while not in uniform?

On duty or off duty a person punched another person in public. The IP wants to make no statement. Is this an affray or can it be a victimless assault battery?

Not seen this posted yet, apologies if it has, however just stumbled across this ad: Rather hard hitting, don't you think?

Hi all, Ive decided to post this topic to read your thoughts and maybe advise me on what you would consider the right thing for me to do. I have been in the SC for 10 years now and its been great, Seen and done many things I would never have seen otherwise. Over this last year Ive struggled with a few health issues, Lower back and joint problems. This may get better , it may not, and the whole issue has drawn out for 12 months and the future is uncertain. Im so far behind in the SC with up - to -date policys and training Ive decided its to much for me to re-train without knowing how my health will be later on and unfair for the SC to keep hanging on. Ive asked to leave t…

Hi all, I am doing my final year project for a degree in IT. I have chosen to make an app to be used by officers out on the beat (or whenever they want) to give info on offences and the P2P of each offence etc. I know of one called Beat Buddy, what are your opinions on this app? also to help in my research are there any other apps you have used or know about and your opinion of them. Thanks in advance, Chris.

Recently and not for the first time I arrived at my nick to book on but decided to go straight back home. The reason? - Pure embarrassment! Please tell me I'm not alone and you can see what's happening? SC's are now doubling the number of PC's on some shifts and certain duties, I have even seen 8 Specials to 3 bobbies! At which point I have put everything im my locker and gone home to spend time with the Girlfriend who is now so used to it says "Not again?!" I have decided that we are not only fooling ourselves but we are having a negative effect on a few things. We are preventing our Police Forces from moving forward. They are now (through no choice of their own) hav…

Sorry if this has already been started somewhere else. I tried to access policespecials.com a minute ago and it has come up with that Op Jubilee rubbish ... Only way I got to the forum was by googling "policespecials.com forum" Can anyone shed some light on this ? Thanks.

It seems to be the opinion of a lot of the upper management in my force and I'm sure Hampshire isn't alone in this, that Specials are there to work in their own community, by doing community policing and alight to beat policing teams. This is despite the fact that most forces have Specials in specialist teams such as RPU etc. I spend most of my time working with a response shift so I don't fit into the role profile either. On top of that I do quite a few events that mean I am often working well off patch or indeed across the county. I'm curious to see how many Specials actually fit the role that senior management expect and how out of touch they are with the realiti…

On holiday in the US two weeks ago. Saw four cops standing on the corner of the street and one of my missions from the shift was to get a picture with US cops. Went up, I'm a cop from the uk, happy enough to take pics etc blah blah blah, said to them I was looking for a good restaurant nearby for lunch could they recommend anywhere?. Next min I was sitting down having lunch with my four new best friends who were mega excited to take a follow LEO out for lunch - no problems with me, was good chat, had a great laugh etc swapped facebooks. What I'm getting at is I was sitting with these four cops, who were in full uniform, armed with their glocks, sitting at the table eat…
