Just sort of wondered what its like being at uni and also a special constable. I was walking home today from my last A level exams which go towards me getting into uni, and was having a little think about what my results will be like. I'm currently waiting for my assessment results to get back also. Any specials here who went to uni whilst a special constable? Any who are at uni and are specials right now? What your experience of it been like? Thanks :D

There are quite a few apps like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scannerradio&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zY2FubmVycmFkaW8iXQ.. They let you listen to live feeds of emergency services around the world but what's the legality of it in the UK? The UK feeds seem to be dead anyway but it's interesting listening to the US stuff. I believe over there they allow it in most states as long as you're not in your car

I've now been informed from a trusted source that an ex of mine (the apple has fell far from the tree since 'us') has been warned and allowed on whilst- Travelling without insurance (non-held, not just driving outside of an existing insurance conditions) and Speeding (47mph in a 30mph zone) What is going on in life? I feel more than a little ticked off that some officer let this go, as I can't think of a reason she would have to deal let her off.

Does a witness statement become in admissible for CPS if it was written in the 3rd person rather than first person. I know it's not the correct way to do it. And I know it's incorrect, but if the witness signed everything and is happy with the statement can it be put through or does a new statement need to be taken?

After watching a few videos of people thinking they can be smart asses infront of police, I was just thinking to myself. Is there some sort of law that would disallow someone to record the police? Has anyone ever been filmed/recorded and how did you respond to it? I'm just interested in finding out.

Morning folks, Has anyone every done a ride along with a police force in the states? I'm going either New York or LA next year (as soon as the other half has decided which) and I know a few forces over the pond offer civilian "ride alongs". This would be an amazing life experience and a great opportunity to see how things are done in the states. Obviously, I'd have to ensure that everything would be ok from supervision at my station, but I'm genuinely interested to hear if anyone else on here has ever done anything like this?

I saw quite a while ago on TV (can't remember which program) a very short pursuit where the driver of a vehicle stopped before firing an AK47 assault rifle at police from inside his car. One of the officers in the vehicle shouted "THAT'S A F*****G MACHINEGUN" before their vehicle failed completely and they stopped. Has anyone else seen this and does anyone have a youtube link or anything? I'd be interested to see this video again or hear any comments from anyone else who might have seen it. Edit: apologies for my disguised language but I thought it appropriate for illustration purposes.

If you are or have been a serving officer would you join up NOW knowing what you know? My answer: No Reason: You give your time up for grief upon grief, lack of training and criticism (not from the public, but from colleagues). Also poor management, expected to buy (yes, buy) kit that you want/need (like trousers!).

In a heated argument & goaded into hitting my husband, I called police to avoid further incident & with the intention the officers to difuse the situation & he be asked to stay with his parents. I was arrested & cautioned for ABH & common assault. I took no legal representative & accepted the caution. My integrity is based on truth. I told the truth & accepted was was suggested to me.. A caution. I am a female special constable & was contacted 7 hours later by my skipper to resign. I've got my internal application in to become a regular... I have done many years in the armed forces, leaving with exemplary conduct. It now appears that a min…

Hi all, I am currently in the middle of the application process for the Specials. Assessment & fitness test passed & interview next. I am keen to do as much research as possible on the role of Special Constable both for prep for my interview but also for the position that I will (fingers crossed) be appointed to. Would it be worth buying the Blackstones Special Constable book at this stage ? Thanks

I think this has been before, but I can't find anything. Upon issuing an FPN or PND, what is the law that allows police officers to use reasonable force to take a picture of the offender with said ticket? Thanks.
