I was wondering what the policy is on having time off in the SC. If I were to ask for 7 weeks off, would that be a massive problem or would mean that I'd have to leave and reapply? The reason would be to escort some young people to Canada on an Army Cadet exchange, I wouldn't just be lounging around watching Jezza Kyle. This is of course, presuming that I am successful with my application....

I wondered what the view point would be on this, especially from serving specials. There are several specials in my area who will ONLY work with traffic and pretty much only ever have. There was recently a disagreement over them wearing white hats... Views?

Any recommendations for the best background reading book for new specials?

Hi guys, looking for any info/experiences of those on here that are in the T.a,as well as a full time cop, considering joining and wondering if being in the T.a would have an adverse effect on the "ol day job". Been a cop for just over 7 years now and feel as if its getting a bit monotonous, looking for an extra bit of exitement! Thanks in advance for any replies Nic29

We all bump into the police from time to time, be it off duty or on duty. Sometimes you just view from a distance how police officers sometimes speak to members of the public. Do you ever think.. I can't believe I'm linked to people like that? Do people think I'm like that? That's why we have a bad name.. Have you had any encounters with the police whereby the officer in question was just completely rude, power tripping etc?

Whilst this story only gives the briefest of sides it came out in court that in fact the Police had been discussing matters with the employer for nearly 3 months prior to suspension from the police on alleged allegations which 19 months later have still not been proven. The CPS dropped the case due to a lack of evidence and the Police including a D/Ch Supt and 2 Ch Insp have been shown to have conspired to continue action against the officer as it would leave the Council his employer in an untenable position. The Met at its best!!! http://www.newsshopp...gful_dismissal/

....So I stopped! I was Cycling to work at 15:00ish (I was on the late shift, non-police) The polite PCSO asked me what I was doing, where I was going ect. I was aware I did not have to answer their questions but I had nothing to hide and did not want to be late for work. They explained some idiot on a bike was riding through the pedestrian only shopping centre and had been abusive to the shopping centre security. The PCSO guys quickly understood that I was not whom they were looking for despite almost fitting the description, I offered my details and driving licence (to speed up the stop) and I was on my way within about 3 mins.. As I don't work in policing I was wond…

Hi all, Been looking at the site for weeks and have founded it very interesting and helpful so I've decided to sign up! :D Just need a bit of advice really, I've had an interest in the Police Force from a young age and eventually got myself into Police Cadets and served 3 years there as well as studying an Extended Diploma in Public Services at college, is this a good start in become a Special? What else could I do to make myself look good? I've decided to go along the Specials route because overall being a part of the Police has always been a great interest to me and I know that not all Police Forces are going to be recruiting for a while, especially Sussex :new_sneak…
