Hi Rather interesting post but there are some jobs that can be considered "good" to go to. Or on another note events that are rewarding and enjoyable. Of course without sounding like you like others hardship what are the incidents / events that you most enjoy and why? I personally like large public events where you can engage with the public and they get to see the proactive side of policing. On an incident side of things I find that public disturbances are the most rewarding as they come with a great challenge initially.

Today for first time in months I have seen a bobby on the beat for the older serving PC's on this forum do you miss doing all the beat duties ? It was just so reassuring seeing a PC walking about and he looked approachable just on a side note do you think that police forces should introduce a minimum amount of hours PC's/SC's need to do on the beat regardless of their roles with in the force ? or is the just me being optimistic thanks Amz-0 oh sorry about the bad grammar/spelling :new_crazy:

More specifically German Shepards/General purpose dogs. I'm just wondering, seeing as all dog handlers I meet for the first time tell me that if the dog comes out stand behind them unless they say otherwise...How do the dogs actually 'switch off'? I know some handlers take their dogs home with them as famly pets, but how do the dogs know when they're at work and when not. If they're kept in kennels it makes more sense; they don't switch off. Thoughts/experience/knowledge? Cheers :D

I know there are many police officers who tweet on their own account or blog either publicly or anonymously, but are there any police officers that regularly video log on youtube without being posted though a corporate style account?

Hi Guys, I was driving my Fathers car yesterday (not quite used to the power if it) and got caught speeding... 67 mph in a 40 mph to be exact. I was caught by a mobile speed gun which recorded my speed, a traffic officer was using the unit. Because the area which I was caught in was Hertfordshire, I was not issued with anything but reported for consideration of the offence of excess speed as Hertfordshire no longer issue FPN's for such offences. The road which I was driving on was a dual carriageway which merged in to a single lane, at the time of the incident I was overtaking a car before the merge, hence why I had accelerated. The time was around 11pm, the road con…

Hi all Quick (first) question. I am hoping to start helping with the CCF at the school I work at. Although they are not officially part of the armed services, they are obviously closely tied in. I'm not quite sure how it works but I believe the adult staff who help do, after a year or so, have to go on a very brief training course and get commissioned sort of a 'CCF Officer' (don't know what the actual title is) in the relevant section (Army, RAF, RN) they are attached. Has anyone been in this situation and will it matter being a special at the same time? Will the Police or Armed services, have an issue with being a member of the other?....etc etc...all the usual quest…

Hello, Couldn't find a thread on this so thought I would post it up. Norfolk police uniform shirts set for switch Research has suggested people find officers in the black uniforms less approachable Continue reading the main story The force faced criticism in 2008 when it introduced zip-up black shirts and combat trousers. Research now suggests people regard police as "more professional, honest and approachable" in a collar and tie, the force says. The new uniform will be trialled by officers in Wymondham from January. It is not yet clear how much the switch would cost if rolled out to all of Norfolk's 1,500 officers. In 2008, the force said its black shirts …

Might sound stupid but....where do you keep yours when you're on the beat? Don't want mine falling out my pocket when I chase someone!!

Hi all. I'm at a bit of a crucial point in my career here and need a few opinions. I've been in road policing for a year now. Yesterday I heard the plans for us when the new single force comes into effect in April. I'm not a fan. Our inspector wants to know rather soon if we wish to stay in the department when the change comes into effect. I think my main gripe is that we will be even futher removed from 'real policing' (with less scope to help the guys on the beat) which isn't really what I signed up for. I don't want to go back to the 'street' in a few more years and feel like a probationer again dealing with crime. I love road policing but I do miss being on the beat…

What are the rules and regulations regarding hours/duties as a Special/PO. I believe it to be maximum 12 hour shift from start time (maybe even leaving house). Also 11 hours are required between shifts. (Extra info on WTD would be great and how this affects special constables)

A quick go around to find out which forces are taking on transferees. Personally I'm happy where I am at the moment but I'm guessing some people are fancying a change whether its the big bright lights (and extra money) of the met or moving to a quieter way of life (though with these cut we know that even the quietest areas are stretched nowadays). However with 43 forces and Scotland thats alot of research just to see whether a force is recruiting, so maybe a little help. The met are recruiting transfers till the end of Nov TVP are taking transfers
