Hi all. New here, apologies if this has been covered here before. I'd like to find out more about cameramen/women in the police. I have attached pictures of said men/women. I have seen this a couple times on various mediums, but I can never find an explanation. Anyone else got any info? I can see that at least one of them is police staff and I presume the other is too, but what would the official title of these staff be and what would they do? Cheers

After watching a recent episode of Brit Cops I thought i would take the risk of opening a can of worms by starting a discussion. I've watched numerous 'cop shows' such as traffic cops, road wars etc over the years. One thing I have noticed is that it appears as though many officers down south often appear reluctant to arrest for "public order offences". Generally you will see someone under the influence and behaving like a numpty, shouting and swearing and failing to desist who is then given warning after warning after warning before finally being arrested, if at all. Last night i watched Brit Cops:War on Crime. A call is received and several cars are sent to a street…

Hi Next Tuesday at 9pm on Channel 4 is a documentary called "Secret of a Pickpocket" I am sure the debate will start once the show has been aired, however, by the look of the advert just shown on television the show appears to show a Metropolitan police team as the main focus for the show. Could be interesting, watch this space for updates when the show has aired. I remember someone asking the other day for a new tv show showing police in action, maybe this could be it?

Our PCC has decided that he now wants the following. 1. A Deputy (Big wage?) 2. To set up a committee/forum to advise the PCC (Didn't we already have this with the Police Authorities?) 3. A full-time Personal Assistant (£23,000 p.a.) It REALLY DOES beggar belief!!!

First of all, my apologies for rehashing old news but I am unable to reply to the subject as apparently It has been archived. I have only recently discovered a thread posted here five years ago on the internet and the negative replies to that thread. Whenever a ' crime ' Is committed, anyone not Involved with that trial can only go by what is reported In the newspapers. I have spent five years ' cleaning up ' threads such as the one posted here due to a libelous article printed by the Bristol Evening Post. One of the articles printed about this trial stated that the 'victim ' was a case of mistaken Identity and totally Innocent. This was not the case. as was proved to t…

Im watching traffic cops and an off duty PCSO was flagged down after a mop flagged her down because of a hit and run that took place. The PCSO was in plain clothes but had a police radio and she was able to call it in. I didn't think you were allowed to take radios home? She also put on her uniform which she must have had in her car at the time. I assume because she put her uniform on she then signed on duty over the radio if that's possible

Most of us work 37+ hours per week (paid job), whats your motivation for being a special constable? I would be interested in age and length of service in your responses. I am almost 40 years of age and have 18 years service. My reason for joining all those years ago was to get in the job but as years went by I progressed in my paid employment and i could no longer afford to join the job. As Temp Chief Officer I like to get out on the streets as often as I can but my main motivation now is developing the special constabulary. I want specials to work in a broad range of areas and have specialist training but I do wonder if ACPO always share our vision. Thanks

Colleagues, Just to make you aware of the Home Office consultation on the direct entry schemes. - Direct entry to Inspector - Direct entry to Superintendent - Direct entry to Chief Constable This allows you to give your views and opinions on the proposed schemes. http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publications/about-us/consultations/police-direct-entry-consultation/ I have made my concerns known in the survey, particularly concering the Superintendent scheme although it is fair to stay I am not in favour of any of the proposals.

Hello, could anyone give me a bigger insight into this role i.e. how long the training is and what sort of shift pattern they're on. I have recently passed the interview and am awaiting a date for the fitness test. I am hoping all goes ok as am really interested and excited to start however haven't been told much about the job itself. Thankyou. :new_yummy:

So after hearing a colleague ring up a victim to tell them that, although there was footage of the incident they were involved with, the CCTV was not clear enough to allow any identification I started wondering how often this was the case. I work in a CCTV rich environment and I have to say the quality of many of the cameras used is pretty poor, almost to the point where they're next to useless. This is usually as a result of having poor cameras in the first place, or in an effort to have them covering a wide area, too zoomed out. You hear people in a state about the number of cameras out there but how many are actually effective? There was a recent thing in the news abo…

Hi everyone, great forum wonder if some of you could advise on this matter? My local sub division inspector is a great chap, any problems and he's right on it proper old school copper, however the main nick seems to discriminate against people who live on council estates, please allow me to give you an example.A couple of years ago my car was broken into on my drive and the radio stolen,I reported this on via our force telephone number and was told that it was logged and given a crime reference number but no visit,a couple of days later a friend who lives on a private estate had the same thing happen and after reporting it was told SOCO would be out for prints,as she had to …

What does everyone do when it comes to crewing. Are you able to go out single crewed? Can you only go out with another regular? Are two specials able to crew? How comfortable are you with this option. Does the force back you if you are unsure on something the control room task you with? (I.E if crewed singly)
