Hey everybody I am quite interested to know why you decided to join the Police, The Specials specifically? Looking forward to your replies as there is such a variance of forces and ages to look at. Has it been a family thing that you always knew you wanted to join the police or did you need a radical change from your office day job?

**There are a few swear words** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-5KNvuBtj0 I admire what they do, the way they handle it and their politeness, what do you think? They have also made two other videos. Hope it's in the right place.

I have noticed that whenever someone under arrest or being investigated by police, when entering a doorway, the police always say "You first", why is important that the suspect enter the room first. Is it so the police officers back is not turned at any point and thereby avoids any possible physical attack. A trivial matter but I'm curious if anyone knows, thanks.

Hi Guys, Do any of you know if the Royal Military Police have much interaction with the Regular Police? I am also led to believe the RMP are trained to the same standard as the regulars- is this correct? Thanks MRF

So being bored and patrolling the internet, it seems a "new face" has popped up that people are raving about. He calls himself Stinson Hunter. To cut short he pretends to be an under age female, and lures men to meet up with him. Surprising them when they arrive and films their reactions and begins to interview them. https://www.facebook.com/stinsonxhunter Heres a couple of his videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BVNsxVBpMLk#! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-5KNvuBtj0 Now i'm of 2 minds about him doing this. Obviously it's all well and good that these predators are brought forwards to the police, However what complications does Stinso…

As the title really. There was a program on one of the terrestrial channels that followed Scottish recruits that were currently in their probation phase and i can't remember what it was called for the life of me!? It used the tagline that whilst England and Wales are no longer recruiting, Scottish police are. Does anybody remember/have a link to any of the programs?

Consider this story from the DM about one of Suffolks 'customers' So what is the solution. The police keep nicking him, the courts ineffectively sentence him and he is straight back out doing exactly the same thing again. He freely admits he will not stop. Last time he almost killed someone, next time he could succeed. Is prison just to be used as a punishment for the offences comitted, or should it be used to prevent him re-offending (as he has said he would)

Hi all, First off, apologies if I have posted this in the wrong forum. The other day I was taking a walk through my local park when I saw a group of five school boys picking on a younger school boy in the same uniform (pushing him around and playing catch with his bag). The park was relatively quiet and even though the boys were near the members of the public nobody was doing anything. I was bullied a fair bit as a child so I know what it must have felt like for the boy. As I got even closer I could see the boy was very upset so I walked up to the group of boys and asked them why they were teasing the younger boy. The entire group just stared at me with blank faces li…

Afternoon all, Potentially bone question coming; do Police Stations have gyms within them, or am I fantasising? I know some fire and rescue places do, wondered if the same applies to us. More specifically do Reading or Loddon Valley? Cheers all!

I often see jobs online requiring the 2 above security clearances, which one does been a special constable give us? And would we be allowed to openly advertise on our CV's that we are SC/DV cleared (if either) due to been an SC. Thanks

Hey, Ive been operational for two months and I was impressed with how difficult it was to know which parts of what we learnt was immediately applicable and what was more long term knowledge. I'd like to propose creating a sticky (up to the mods) with everyone's tips on what you need to be proficient at to make a good first impression with regulars, since I think it can really affect your relationship with the teams but more importantly give you a confidence boost straight away and make sure you come back for more shifts. For example pnc checks and NASCH. We only had about twenty minutes of training for this but I found that it's probably the thing you will do most ofte…

If you had the opportunity to changes or even remove special constable grades within your force area, would you keep grades if so which would you have and in what ratio. Please note i am using the term grade to denote positions such as special sergeant etc. cheers

Hey guys just out of curiosity i want to know how all the different police force warrant cards look like for regulars and specials. We all know how the mets one looks like it says police officer in red font and under your name it will say what rank you are i.e if your a regular it will say 'constable', if your a special it will say 'special constable' and if you are any rank it will say sergeant, inspector etc. I would really appreciate it if you guys took time to upload a picture of your warrant cards and upload it in reply to this and obviously blank out your face, name, warrant/collar number if you want to for security and personal reasons.
