http://www.channel4.com/programmes/my-daughter-the-teenage-nudist/4od#3289619 Firstly: I am impressed with how the GMP officer dealt with the nudity at minutes 26 - 29 (ish!). Secondly: How would you deal with that? Me: I would ask the female to put her clothing back on as she is clearly displaying her female Genitalia and, as there are people around of all ages (including children), I do not feel it is appropriate to be displaying such a level of nudity, in a busy town centre (assuming it is a rail station entrance?). Apart from S5 POA I can't really think of anyting else that would fit, except maybe Breach of the Peace - only due to tensions in the area and the c…

So I am currently at university, have applied to be a Special and would love to become a regular when/if the opportunity arises. At the moment I can't think of any other career path I'd rather take. But in the midst of cuts to funding, PCCs and single-crewed patrols etc., the impression I am getting from those in the job at the moment is that they are desperate to get out. Take this exchange from Inspector Gadget's blog for example: I'd like to point out that despite this it is still the dream job in my eyes and I am not particularly put off, but I'd like to know what some of the guys currently serving think. If you were in my position with the knowledge you have …

Tonight for the second time in a month and for the fourth time this year I have been 'attacked' on duty. Not 'assaulted' in the typical sense, however, I think 'attacked' is still the correct word. When I worked in London I used to watch Night Cops showing the PSNI being shouted at from across the road, threatened and cans/bottles/stones being thrown at officers and used to think 'Thank God it isn't like that in the UK'. However, in Merseyside, ever since I have joined I have noticed a menacing undercurrent underlying many of my encounters with gangs of youths and the scariest thing is I fully expect it to happen again tomorrow. Tonight I had just left a victim of crim…

Did anyone watch this last night on ITV ? 9:00pm, Monday 18 February 2013 Duration: 1 hour Series 1 Episode1 of 2 HMP Aylesbury houses some of the most dangerous criminals in Britain, but what makes this prison exceptional and disturbing is that the oldest among them is just 21. Catch it Episode 1 on ITV Player https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/her-majesty-s-prison-aylesbury Reviews of it made the papers, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/tv-and-radio-reviews/9878441/Her-Majestys-Prison-Aylesbury-ITV-review.html I found it quite gritty and a pressure cooker of problems. Well worth a watch !

I was recently told that not enough SC's were working on Bank Holidays. This made me think about how various regular support, nurture or direct instructions to special constables? Is our role seen as adding value or now a much needed part of the daily police numbers? We are a small force but contributed £1.6 million in resources last year.

Have you ever sustained an injury through police assault that has had an impact on your working life? For example if you work on a reception desk, in a supermarket or just any customer service role and you are walking around with a black eye, bruises and a cut face. How did your manager react? If this hasn't happened to you, how do you think they would react? Have you been made to take time off because of it? Also how does it affect your police work? Going out on patrol in that state doesn't put a lot of public confidence in the police. Are you made to do light duties until you heal?

Hello, I have made this thread to find out about specials that use motorbikes when on duty. Im also a motorcyclist and I aim to become work in traffic on a motorcycle sometime in the future. I am currently going through my special application for the metropolitan police and I just want a heads up on any information related to specials on motorbikes. Is it allowed? Do you have to be of a certain age? If anyone knows any information on this topic please reply and anyone who is interested in this, please explain your thoughts on doing so.

Does anyone have any experience where a police force has reduced the number of special constabulary supervisors because it was top heavy? Our regulars are reducing ranks due to a reduction in police officers and we have lost lots of special constables and are deemed top heavy. I wondered if this had happened anywhere else, if so what was the process? Most of our supervisors went through interview boards so not sure how they would make it fair? Please private message if you would rather not post on here. Thank you

Hi all Warrant Cards What is your title on your warrant card? Does it say Police Officer, Special Constable...etc Our force puts 'Special Constabulary', and no where does it say warrant card on it. I wanted to recommend putting it on, but wanted to check other forces first.

The purpose of prison is to reform criminals, however this is not always possible. Many criminals repeatedly break the law and are undeterred by the prospect of punishment. There are several factors believed to contribute to criminal behavior, one important factor being high testosterone levels. It has been proven that testosterone is linked to aggression, in 1990 James Dabbs studied 4,462 men and concluded that "the overall picture among the high-testosterone men is one of delinquency, substance abuse and a tendency toward excess." Even in women, Dabbs found high testosterone levels were related to crimes of unprovoked violence. Statistically men commit significantly mor…
