Hi all, Do you have to 'pass' the numeracy test in the search assessment centre, or does it not matter so long as you pass overall?

Firstly I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Emma and I am an Ex Member of Police Staff having worked for 5 years in a Police Control Room Having worked for the Police, I have seen the effects of PTSD and Burnout first hand and I believe this is something which is very important and needs to be addressed by emergency service organisations, by completing this survey, you will not only be helping yourself and your collegues, you will also be providing valuable statistics which can be used for future research. Since leaving the force I have retrained as a Psychotherapist and am looking to collate data and evidence around Post Traumatic Stress and Burnout in the Emergen…

Law enforcement agencies from around the world are taking part in a 24 hour global tweet-a-thon, to show what they do and what issues they face on a day to day basis, including GMP, Suffolk, Norfolk and others in the UK as well as agencies from Iceland, USA, Australia, Canada, Sweden and others. The tweets will be akin to a "virtual ride along" with the various departments. It will take place Friday 22nd March from 8am UK time using the hashtag #poltwt Below are all the agencies taking part; https://twitter.com/ConnectedCOPS/police-tweet-a-thon-2013/members

I'm aware that the process is completely different in the Met, and I'm guessing some other forces use different processes, but here in GMP, the process for recruiting regular officers is something as follows: 1. Join the Specials/Become a PCSO/Get a job as Police Staff 2. Await recruitment 3. Apply 4. Attend an assessment 5. Attend a final interview 6. Fitness Test/Medical/Vetting 7. Begin training The only thing that seems to have changed in recent years is the introduction of step 1. The exact details of the process have varied a bit, but all in all, the general idea is the same as when recruitment was open to external applicants. At the last recruitment campai…

Good evening all! I'm a relatively new user to the forum and I have come seeking the advice of anyone who has some knowledge of the SEARCH assessment centre process. I am aware that they will measure my behaviours against the core-competencies whilst completing the tasks. My question is relating to the interview that I will be undertaking. It is my understanding that 4 questions will be asked over a 20 minute period. Is it possible that I will need to demonstrate more than one competency whilst answering each question? I have had a PCSO and Special Constable interview in the past (HQ interview and NOT Assessment Centre) which have identified the competency they will …

Hey guys Have done a search but, no luck! I know there was recently a knew circular released to help with transfers but I'm still unsure on it. I don't want to stay in my current county and am looking to transfer, I have IPS, does anyone know how quickly the process is likely to happen? If I do transfer, it'll likely be to BTP, Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire/Met. Obviously pending them allowing it. Does anyone have any experience with inter force transfers, the timescales, and the processes involved (in a more practical sense, rather than fill this form out to HR). Am I likely to have to sit interviews, applications, medicals and the like again ?

Although this is Met specific, I've posted it in General Discussion as it's open to Specials (S/Insp or higher) from outside the Met as well:

So yesterday he posted on twitter that after the sad loss Of PC Dibell, maybe the police should riot. It was clearly an ironic post aimed at the claimed reasons for last years riots. The usual crowd are jumping all over it, but has it actually gone too far? There were prosecutions on the back of similiar throw away comments, why should this one be interpreted any differently?

So I was reading @mentalhealthcop's blog as I usually do when he updates Twitter and on reading his latest blog, this came up: http://mentalhealthc...ning-self-harm/ I thought this was a very interesting point, one that I think many of us would feel uncomfortable accepting (rightly or wrongly). It's also a blog post well worth reading

hey everyone. I'm completely new to this site and wasn't sure where to put this but I'm looking for some advice. I'm strongly considering trying to get into the police force once I've finished university, (which I'm in the third year off). Does anyone think I'll actually have a chance to do well in the recruitment process or will having no experience be my downfall? Thanks for anyone who decides to reply.

I know that Specials tend to do mainstream policing rather than the specialist stuff, but what is the chance of a GMP Special doing some work with the dog handlers or the mounted branch? Is this possible? Cheers
