Charlie Veitch saving the world one video at a time. What a complete muppet. ADDED BY MOD, careful where you watch this, there is a fair amount of shouted swearing.

Newham Law Enforcement Officers: The dangers of looking like the Metropolitan Police. On Thursday 8th November the ITV London Tonight news programme covered Operation Ohio, the joint antisocial behaviour clampdown between Newham Council and the Metropolitan Police. The report can be viewed here. I’ll return to the content of the report in a later blog-post, but for the moment I’ll focus on the uniform issued to the council’s Law Enforcement Officers and how that uniform is virtually indistinguishable from that worn by police officers. In a previous post I reported how the Metropolitan Police claim that the local Borough Commander verbally approved the uniform (t…

Witness Perjury - Perverting the course of justice Recently I have come across a case where a witness for the crown provided a statement (MG11) information resulting in the arrest and charging of an individual, throughout the criminal justice process the accused individual denied the charge and at the trial the accused was cleared without having to give evidence as the witness gave conflicting evidence against the original sequence of events and MG11. I don't for very good reasons want to go into details, but I wondered if a witness effectively gives a false statement and lies in court would the charge be Pervert the course of Justice or Perjury ? Does anyone have expe…

Afternoon All. Having recently read an autiobiography by a HMP officer ('Screwed' by Ronnie Thompson) and doing some googling It would appear that drugs are a real problem in our prisons. I often hear talk about how people go into prison clean and come out with an addiction. So 1) how can we stop drugs getting into prisons? 2) how big a problem is corruption of staff in prisons? any responses by anyone involved with the prison service would be welcomed. Cheers HD

Sorry if this isn't the correct section! I was a victim of GBH back in June 2012. The officer investigating the case said I was likely to be entitled to some form of compensation. Told me to fill out a form and send it off. Since then I have not heard from her or anyone to do with the incident. Anyone been in this sort of situation and / or know how I get an update on the case? *disclaimer noted*

Hi guys. Just looking for a bit of advice. I applied to the specials back in September and received my PIRT date for January. However in December I signed up to the British transport police website for job alerts etc and noticed a job for a transport officer, I tried to apply but a new page popped up and it said I had already applied for this position on the website probably because they share the same details with the specials across the borough. I wasn't aware that you couldn't apply for positions within 6 months of each other. Now that I'm heading for the interview stage for the specials I was wondering if I need to declare this and I'm worried that it may count agains…

Have just been accepted for training as a Special with West Yorks and already employed as a shift worker with them. Obviously this raises problems as on various training days I'm scheduled to work. I have requested "duty elsewhere" time to do training but HR state that this must be done in my own time so would have to put in leave. Has anybody else been in the same boat with their Force and if so what was the outcome?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2282251/Three-British-Muslims-guilty-plotting-7-7-terrorist-attack-team-8-suicide-bombers.html?ICO=most_read_module I think this is the correct place to post such content so here goes. I was wondering if anyone was attending the scene of the 7/7 attacks. If you was attending, what was you thinking when you arrived? What was your thoughts during? What did you think after you finished your shift?

So apparently we are now allowed to reallocate where we want bank holidays in accordance with the Winsor recommendation. Does anyone actually see the point of this? We have been told that if we put them somewhere else then we will definitely be working the relevant bank holiday for normal pay and will get other days off in their stead. I submitted a request to move my bank holidays to various days that I didn't fancy working or, if I was forced to work them, then I'd get double pay: so I requested my bank holidays were moved to New Year's Eve, Notting Hill Carnival and Hallowe'en, but apparently I was "taking the mick" and told I wasn't allowed to do that.... ....so real…

Anybody thinking of quitting being a Special? Interested to know the reasons why or perhaps you have already quit for whatever reason but are still active in this forum? How are reform changes affecting your committment and attitude towards your force? How are you supported, valued or appreciated? Have you ever been in a position where "something's happened" and you realise what it's like to been on the receiving end of policies and procedures? - The might of the "system" is alot to cope with I'm sure. Is being a Special still rewarding for you? Can you still balance your "other" life inbetween duties and to what extent? What are your motives for carrying on? Pers…

Right so for the first time the other day I formally identified a quantity of green vegetable matter as herbal cannabis. I decided that after working for the police for four years and dealing with cannabis on many, many occasions that I am happy in my own ability through experience and training to identify substances as cannabis. It was a good feeling as for years I have always got an experienced reg to do me a quick half page statement identifying it. Is there any guidance on how long/what experience you need to identify cannabis? Eg. Is it usually people who are out of their probation can identify it or...? This also got me thinking, which other expert (misuse of word…

Forgive me if a thread is already running, but have they canned road wars/ traffic cops? Always seem to see the repeats on satellite channels but never anything new coming through? Apart from of course the awful attempt at police interceptors this current series!
