Hello all I am new to the forum so a big hello to all those who read this post. I am currently working as police staff in the 999 control room and interested in becoming a special (to put my money were my mouth is) but have dyslexia. I have approached my HR department who did not seem to know what they would be able to do as it is a volunteer role and it is not under employment laws. With this I was pointed by a friend to this forum as being a great source of advise. So if there are any dyslexic special constables out there can you let me know how you get on and do you get any reasonable adjustments made I.E computer software and audio recording devises?. Many thanks…

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any experience of Specials working in schools? Like some PCSO's do? Like, not necessarily being a school staff member + special, but working in a school in your capacity as a special. Any responses are appreciated,

Anyone had anyluck recieving payment when an inspector authorises you to stay beyond your set time and you are unable to go to work the following day?

Hi, I have slightly red dyed hair and was wondering if I will need to dye it before I go to have my photo taken for my ID?

Clips include: - 40 year old woman in full sexual intercourse with 14-17 year old boys under the beach pier in broad daylight...for a fiver. - 3 year old walking the streets barefoot with no adult. It takes the mother 1 hour to realise her baby is missing and call the police - 13 year old puts a brick through someone's window and attempts to headbutt police and has to be put to the floor twice. - Drunk parents leave their 12 year old twin daughters on the beach and they get taken in to the sea. The parents are i…

Hi all, This has probably been done before but couldnt find it anywhere so here goes... do special sergeants/inspectors have any authority over regular PC's? Are there supervision powers limited to certain circumstances e.g, s/sgt being first to attend an rtc/fatal crime scene? :new_hmmm:

Someone may have a better experience outside the job to use, would that go down well, a mixture to show some diversity in and experience in your life? Or would they expect all of yours to be from Specials? Just trying to clarify what you think would go down best, not looking for any inside scoops!! Not sure if this is the better section, or the specials recruitment, please move if I'm against the flow!
