Hopefully someone can help me settle a discussion at work. In a pay and display car park if another customer hands you a ticket as they are leaving which has several hours before it expires and you display it on your vehicle are there any offences? What offences do you commit and does the person giving you the ticket commit any? Thanks for taking the time to read.

Real scenario. OSPRE names SMITH is the father of a schoolboy who returns home from school in tears and when pressed he tells his father that a long spell of bullying has culminated in him being hit by a fellow pupil, the son of JONES. The next day SMITH goes to the school at home-time and confronts the young JONES warning him in no uncertain terms to leave his son alone but making no threats. JONES hears of this from his son and walks to the home of SMITH that evening. With him he has a wooden chair leg which he has pulled from an old chair at his home. Brandishing it he stands on SMITH's front lawn and shouts repeatedly for him to come out. SMITH declines to do so but…

Hello all, Me and my neighbourhood PC have been getting reports from Mr. Refused stating that a male is driving a vehicle using red diesel and that he keeps a tank of the diesel at his workplace. We've seen the vehicle at times but have had no way to test the fuel, we're in the process of getting a squirty dipstick type thing from area traffic but the PC was trying to research his powers regarding the matter. Furthest we've got is to read the delightful "Hydrocarbon Oil Duties Act 1979", with scope that the male is not paying duty on his fuel. Does anybody here know the powers applicable to this? Many thanks!

so, here is the thing... I have a PC, and I have a BluRay player, I want to be able to access the PC from the BluRay to play audio, video and see pictures on the BR player. The BR player has a UUB connection, and an ethernet connection. If I connect a USB Datastick, it reads the movies, audio and pictures fine, so that works. If I connect the ethernet, then the BR player connects to the internet, as the other end of the Ethernet cable is connected to Broadband Router,, not to PC, and the PC only has one ethernet connection, and this is being used for the router. I have no idea why the BR polayer connects to the internet, as it seems to be for streaming, however the ser…

In my area i notice the PCSO's get alot of stick from residents. THings thrown at them on occasions. Most of the time they get shouted at by residents. In particular to the abuse are the officers on bikes, they get more stick than anyone. Im guessing PCSO's either cant arrest people or something prevents them from doing so. If not why do these people get away with it?? CHeers

Hi We have a situation that I feel uncomfortable with and is bothering me: The scenario: Man has an affair and is caught by girlfriend with his trousers down, girlfriend throws boyfirend out of house - mistress knows he is cohabitating. Mistress states girlfriend is calling her excessively 50 times a day, demands that boyfirend reports this 2 police. Police warn girlsfriend to stop calling mistress, girlfriend denies doing it. Police are not shown any phyiscal evidence nor do not obtain any evidence. Mistress continues to report to boyfriend that girlfriend is calling and texting her, boyfriend reports to police again but includes accusations of girlfriend child abus…

Wanted some advice, just recently a road in town that has been used for years by all, has been turned into a bus lane only. I genuinely was not aware of this and can honestly say most drivers are in the same position as nearly everyone is still using it as a normal route - signs are not clear! Anyway the other night I was driving along totally unaware when I was stopped by the police, I explained that it was a genuine mistake hoping I would just receive a warning, especially now knowing it's only become a bus lane a week ago! But it was no use I was issued with a penalty notice for £30. Not only that I was also issued a S59, I have been reading up on this and can't unde…

Hi all, I saw this scenario on TV a few nights ago and it got me wondering: In town on a Satruday night, chucking out time, ouside a club you and a few other officers are monitoring the revellers. There is a bit of a commotion near the door and you go and separate a man (Mr A) who is arguing with a bouncer. Mr A is told to go home as he has had a fair bit to drink when Mr A alleges that the bouncer he was arguing with punched his wife in the head when they were leaving. Mr A gets aggressive and goes for the bouncer leading to him being arrested for S5 PO. You have noted there is a CCTV camera at the door where the incedent took place. What I was wondering was whither …

There is no outstanding monies owed but a will not allow b in or return the property today. They will give it back at the end of the week. B needs the property urgently for work What do you do.

Hi, I bought a car yesterday from a dealer off the internet and i got it home 60miles away with a few problems temp hit 100! Took car to a garage to get it looked at it had a major overheating problem with the heater matrix and rad. Cost me 40 quid for diagnostics! Rang dealer up they said they would fix problem but NOT refund me under any circumstances. I had to get car to them which recovery cost me 200 quid! they wont refund this to me. If i wanted to take this to trading standards do i have a leg to stand on legally once the car is fixed. When i rang thedealer he kept trying to fob me off saying it will be fine etc!

Hello all :-) This may sound a bit random, but just wondering what the general consensus is as to what you would do if off duty/from a MoP point of view. Ok...scenario is that you are driving on the motorway at night - traffic conditions are steady and weather reasonable. The driver in front is in Lane 1 but constantly veering into the hard shoulder and also into Lane 2, several times it has near misses with other vehicles. You can clearly see the number plate and have the vehicle make and model etc. You have a mobile phone on you but no hands free kit so to use it whilst driving is obviously a no-no. Would you report this or put it down to poor driving and ignore?…

Parking ticket received for parking on double yellow lines. However, I was parked off road on some waste ground (cobblestones and tarmac). The highway code states: Waiting restrictions indicated by yellow lines apply to the carriageway, pavement and verge. It is my understanding that a verge is grass and not cobblestones and tarmac. Does a verge refer to cobblestones and tarmac anywhere? This ‘hard standing’ is around 12 metres long by 6 metres deep. The pavement terminates at the hard standing.
