Hi, I hope someone can give me an insight into how things work in the law/with police/cps etc cos i am baffled. To cut a long and sorry tale short(er) my husband was involved in an altercation with a downstairs neighbour. The neighbours sister had moved in approx 8 months ago and since then we have had to endure her shouting down a mobile phone outside our bedroom window morning noon & night - till 0230hrs, at least 3-4 times a week. Requests for her to stop were met with abuse from the womans brother ( not a tenant) and we were told call the noise people or call the police. Out of idle curiosity, I wanted to find out what the law had to say about abandoning domestic animals, and came across the Abandonment of Animals Act 1960. However, this appears to have been superceded by the Animal Welfare Act 2006 - but this act, as far as I can see, doesn't make any explicit reference to abandonment. Am I right in presuming that abandonment is still an offence under AWA?

An issue just came up at work, in London when a lot of the traffic signs enforcement was switched to being handled by the Local Authority did the police then lose the ability to enforce the same thing? In my area we have a 'no left/no right turn' on a junction (will not be publishing the location) that the council are not enforcing. The local police state that they cannot enforce, even if they wanted to, due to these types of sign being switched to only council enforcement in the past. But if there was also a 'no entry' then they could enforce it too. Is there not some catch all regulation like 'failure to obey a traffic sign' that the local police could enforce even …

Someone who lives near me was arrested last year for assaulting a PO. (She was actually re-arrested having been arrested for assault in the first instance.) The person in question is an habitual nuisance, and drug and alcohol user.Yet, can you believe a school teacher? Anyway, I thought assaulting a PO was a fairly serious thing (understandably), so am intrigued to know why she is, apparently still going about her daily life. What would have been the likely action taken against her? She was banged up for the night in question at the local nick, but would it have gone to court? Fine? Warning? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I'm looking for some advice with regards to a 1970 soviet radio truck which l will be needing to transport soon on a normal B1 car licence (Insured/MOT/taxed), the Truck is plated as 3,5 tons but has a maximum authorized mass of 5.5 tons so would normally require a C1 licence which due to me passing my car test after 1997 l do not currently hold. The case of the 15 year old running off to France has provoked some interesting debates. So may I ask a question to clarify the law. If a parent reports to the police that their 15 year old girl is seeing an 18 year old man and appears to be in a relationship with him, the police would investigate. The man has no convictions, a steady job, of generally good character and there was no evidence that the relationship was abusive in any way other than her age. Even if there had been no intercourse he may still be guilty of sexual touching, get convicted and be on the sex offenders register for life. Hi, my employer is considering having their security vehicle marked up. The design that the marking company has provided has alternating blue reflective and yellow standard rectangles along the top sides of the vehicle, similar to half battenburg design, red reflective and yellow standard chevrons on the rear and black standard 'security' logos on the bottom half of the front doors and the bonnet. Hi, i need some advice regard trouble nieghbours. My mum has lived in the same house for 10 years now, never a problem with nieghbours before a new couple moved in downstair. Each time she goes out to hang up a washing they come out, last time it was the husband, wife and 2 daughters calling her every name possible and threatening to kill her. Anyone who saw the Channel 4 program on MDMA, would have known that researchers gave participants MDMA which would have meant that the researchers were in possession of Class A drug and also wouldn't they technically be supplying? Anyway my point is that whilst I agree with that any scientific study of any drug is a good thing, how did they do it without it being illegal? You must need permission from somewhere beyond your local police force.
