Hi there, any advise on an ongoing issue would be much appreciated. I have lived in the same house for the past 25 years, and 2 years ago my next door neighbour died. The council then obviously re let the house and rightly so in the current climate. A lady who I will not name then moved in next door with her two kids. At the time I was working 12.5 hr night shifts and I would come home and be woken up all day by constant shouting by her and her kids at each other, her son who can't be any older than 13 shouts back at her and swears at her. I have great concerns about animal cruelty in my area. I work in a business in the city centre of Peterborough and have many chats with the local customers. I have been told some very disturbing things and do not know who to tell. There are many pets (dogs) being stolen in this area, it is often in the local papers of the numbers stolen and it keeps rising. There is also a high rate of illegal dog fighting also in the area. I have been told by several locals about the reason these pets are being stolen. THEY ARE USED FOR BAIT IN PITBUL DOG FIGHTING.. I have a question and need guidance. My sister (half sister) has told me that her fiancé has held her down and had sex when she never wanted to. I would call this rape but she does not see it that way. She uses excuses that he was drunk and that she only carried on to keep peace. When she told him that he hurt her then he just laughed. What can I do in this situation when she has not told anyone else other than me what her fiancé is like? I have confronted him with the allegation and he naturally took offence and has offered violence and is now seeking revenge. Can I get a restraining order to stop him contacting my family?

Hi, When conducting a s18(5) search does the suspect always need to be present with you? A good example would be say you arrest someone round the corner from their house and no s32 power exists. Your colleagues transport the suspect away and you feel that if you don't get into the premise quickly evidence will be lost due to other local residents viewing your arrest. I'm sure I read somewhere that the suspect should be present for 18(5). Cheers!

Is it an offence to have an asp (expandable baton) in my own private home. I understand it is an offense to have one anywhere in public but what about in my home?????

I've just worked on an exam question from an online database of OSPRE Part 1 sylabus Q&As which has left me a bit surprised. The scenario was a voyeur who wanted to record a third-party doing a private act without their consent and, to achieve this, enlisted the help of two friends (who knew what he was up to). The first friend drilled a hole in a wall and the second installed a camera to record the third-party. I borrowed friend(now ex) money(cash), when I went to her for a money back ,she called Police and said that haunts her. I got a harrasment warning. I do not have any evidence, because it was a cash. Now whenever we meet somewhere accidentally, she scares me police and smiling. One time She said "I reported first, not you " You dont have chance ,because i women" Why do I have to run away from her on the street, when she stolen me and lied police ? I work in the same office as Horse & Hound magazine, and they are running a story about a new set of Hi Viz gear for riders, it looks almost exactly the same as the mounted police wear exept it says POLITE on the back and not POLICE,. Apparently drivers have been droping mobile phones, snapping on seat belts and slamming on brakes when they have seen people wearing it . I just wonderd what people thought of this.... Personally I'm not sure it is a good idea..yes it may make people slow down but it could also really annoy them and cause them to do something stupid.

What with the recent cases of a certain high-profile professional football player and now an official standing accused of racially aggrevated public order offences, I would like to raise a few issues I see. Is a football pitch really a public place? Contrary to s.4 of the Football (Offences) Act 1991; This clearly outlaws the public access surely? The only other way for a Public order offence to be complete is if the language or visual representation was likely to be heard from a public place (the crowd). On the way to work this morning, I was behind a small green hatchback of some description which had a, wait for it, small yorkshire terrier standing on the parcel shelf. Now, once I'd stopped laughing as it would alternately swing it's head around to look at me out of the back window I thought, the driver really isn't going to be able to use their rear view mirror for much, but is there a rule about animals loose in cars? As I overtook I saw it wasn't on a leash or anything. Any offences? I mean, aside from being stupid.

I don't think it can be, but just want to check. Arson is S1(3) of Crim Dam 1971. Crime & Disorder 1998 S30 creates aggravated "simple criminal damage" but makes no mention of the Arson offence. Really I just want to be sure that I'm researching things correctly. Thanks

When watching a lot of this police documentaries you see a lot of coppers dealing with drunks and it got me thinking. If someone comes up and starts giving you lip and you simply ask them "Are you drunk?" and they respond they are then as an admission of guilt you can fine them? Also the Licensing Act 1872 Section 12 refers to a fine of forty shillings, how does that translate today?
