Morning all, advice required on a rather urgent basis. I currently work for the Fire Service. Last night, we had a request to move specialist equipment up north to assist with the flooding and the current terror alert that has been issued. We sent up 4 units in a convoy, to a RV point. 3 of the units had blue lights installed as standard, the 4th was a people carrier to take operating personnel for the equipment. Half way to the RV point, the resources were requested for immediate despatch, so blues and twos obviously come into play. Ok this happened to me for the first time recently the machine give two readings to far apart according to the paperwork and therefore that machine is un reliable. My question which none of the other staff on duty or the custody sgts could answer was can I just use the other machine at the custody suite? (it is a very large custody suite with two intox machines). On advice from the custody sgt we went to blood however having read blackstones since it seems to say you can take someone to another custody suite where there is a working intox machine. Anyone come across this before or been challenged in court over a decision related to this?

I was walking home, when a speeding ambulance came threw a red light bend at around 50mph without siren but with lights. A motorbiker was going straight boooom they crashed he was thrown into the air and did a flip and landed head first. Could the ambulance be done for driving without due care and attention? or is exempt i wander why he did not call the police 1 can only assume because he was at fault. Quite lucky as buses just managed to pass with long ques. As well as i know the biker was injured seriously but not dead.

Please can someone clear this up for me. I have been told that police officers can no longer issue tickets to people who have parked their vehicles on double yellow lines, only pcson traffic people can. However, lots of people at wotk disagree and say its just a rumour!

I am after some guidance from anyone who has recently used this power. The scenario is that having seen a vehicle driving round our area over the course of two nights - revving it's engine outside clubs and playing loud music - I managed to stop it and speak to the driver. Anyway, he seemed to think he had the upper hand as he was fully insured etc and as I walked away turned the music up again. I therefore went back to him and discussed Section 59 of the police reform act 2002 and told him how if I gave him a warning tonight and he was caught doing the same thing again any time in the next 12 months his car would be seized. hi all, quick law point that we couldng come up with answer for - if a person is shown recall for prison do we have a power of entry? not sure if sec 17 applies as there is no warrant issued from a court and dont think that they are unlawfully at large (ie escaped) locked up for it last week - she happily opened the front door but if she hadnt not sure what we would have done! thoughts experiances welcome!

Say a store detective/ worker had resonable suspicion you were stealing for a shop would he be entitled to search your property, even though i had a reciept to prove i payed, and no alarms went off when i left the shop, or should he have called the police and waited for them. Is there any law stopping a citizen from searching a member of the publics property, share your views please even if you are not completly sure. Thanks
