I believe that the recent media frustrations at the Portugese police is a joke. The Portugese police seem to have the balance correct. ie. all police enquiries are confidential and subject to justice, it is not therefore a matter of public consumption. We in the UK seem to be losing the principles of sub-judicae and are following the American model where suspects are not only photographed and filmed but are interviewed. Such exposure simply plays into the hands of the defence lawyers who can argue that a fair trial is impossible as a result of media coverage. hello all, this situation very nearly happened to me today, which left me wondering where i would have stood regarding the law.. picture the scene. im trying to pull out of a junction. there are double yellows either side of the road im pulling out of. and some MASSIVE van decided to use the double yellows as the delivery point (of course, putting his hazards on makes it all better. this effectively rendered my vision to the right of my car completely useless. as causiously as possible i edged out from the road, trying to gain vision of the traffic passing. as i did, i must have been inches from hitting the passenger arch of a passing car. now my question... if we had …

The Home Office has published online all of the updated codes of practice for PACE, including the new Code G which deals with police powers of arrest under the revised Section 24 PACE. Since a lot of Code G is up to interpretation at the moment, in the absence of any case law, it is worth getting acquainted with the code in case you come up against a custody sergeant who has a better (or worse!) understanding of it than you do, so you can argue your case! These newly published Codes replaced the 2004 edition when they came into effect after midnight on 31 December 2005. a few years ago i considered becoming a glamour model as i was so skint, i never went through with it but i did take a lot of pics. when i met my boyfriend he had some strange fetishes etc so i allowed him to take some normal nude and fetish pics of me. the pics were on my pc. ive recently found out that he has been putting my pics all over the web without my permission, he has emailed them from my pc to his. where do i stand legally and should i consult a solicitor as it has caused a lot of stress and unhappiness.

I am standing as a BNP candidate on May 3rd and have just read on the BNP forum that Police officers in another ward are knocking on doors asking people to remove "Vote BNP" leaflets from their windows. If true! Is this legal and I would also be interested in any serving police officers moral opinions? BTW I am the grandson of immigrants and in a mixed race/religion marriage so would prefer not to be flamed for being a member of the BNP. I have served and fought for this country (Falklands) and earned I think the right to have my political beliefs.

hi all can someone possibly help me here my brother was stopped last night in girvan strathclyde he claims he was doing 34 in a 30 the officer who stopped him claims 55 to 60 ? .He was given a producer form for his licence mot and insurance and the officer also said he would be charged with he thinks careless driving he cant remember he also said the charge might be downgraded what does all this mean will he get sumond to court he stupidly never asked the officer said it was up to the procurator fiscal to decide when he reported him thanks for any help people.

Long story short, I was riding on an fairly expencive road bike (£400, I have £6 in my bank at the moment so I take good care of it.) leaned it against the side of a house to go into a shop, but before I went in I noticed a guy and I had the feeling he just wanted to get his hands on my bike so I put the chain round it, put he still waited, so I chained it round a lamp post and he walked off. If he had gone for it (I have no 'solid' evidence he would have but I was pritty sure, you had to be there really) what would I have been allowed to do, could I push him into the wall, or could I just shout at him. The area where I work has a particular problem with prostitution. It is always top of the agenda at neighbourhood meetings as the locals get fed up with prostitutes hanging around outside their houses and punters driving through the area at all hours of the day and night. The prostitutes are regularly arrested and charged with loitering/soliciting and when bailed we serve a map on them with a particular area outlined. This is referred to as the 'vice area' and a condition of bail is that they are not allowed to enter the area. The map is the same for everyone and has been used in succesful ASBO applications. recently i stupidly tried to steal some lunch from a supermarket and got caught, and the police were subsequently called. i'm over 18 so my details and fingerprints were taken, but rather than being arrested i was issued with an £80 fine. however, i'm clueless regarding my 'legal status' now. do i have a criminal record? i'm planning on going travelling soon, will this incident affect my plans in anyway? basically if you could just tell me how this incident has affected my, for want of a better phrase 'legal standing' eg if i have a criminal record, how long it will last for, what implications this has on travelling abroad, anything like that, i would be more than apprec…

Hello all, My silly younger brother-in-law was on his way to a works function last night driving along the streets of a Hertfordshire town. He was pulled doing approximately 50mph in a 30 limit. Now I'm certinaly not asking how to get him off (as I'm sure there would be no way anyway) and I have already told him that he is a very silly boy and reminded him why we have speed limits. Try this one for size: A youth wanders into the changing rooms of his local football club after a match, with some of his mates, and starts winding up members of the visiting team, swearing liberally (although not at anyone in particular) and poking fun at their performance on the pitch. Several members are almost at the point of wallpapering the room with him. The youth concerned has been banned from the club for causing trouble, and in any case wouldn't have any right to be in the changing rooms. S5 - or even S4? A.
