hi everyone, yet another newbie in need of help, im currently a legislation officer of the fire engine limousine assocition and trying to help one of our members thats generally panicking. my quiery relates to licensing issues, i will explain the story. today this guy got stopped whilst driving a limousines, the vehicle in question is an ex fire engine converted to carry 8 passengers as a licenced limousine, the offence he got stopped for was "holding" a telephone whilst driving, basically he pulled up to a roundabout and thought his phone had rang so picked it up and looked at it, a unmarked police car at the roundabout saw this and pulled him over issuing a FPN f…

A man is robbed in the street next to a taxi rank, the robber tries to get in the taxi and close the door, when the victim attempts to get his property back. An arguement/scuffle takes place with the offender in the taxi and the victim half in the taxi, when the taxi driver pulls away, dragging the victim along for about 15 metres until he lets go and rolls along the ground, injuring himself. Whether the taxi driver knew what happened (Robbery) is not known. Is the man being dragged along in the car classed as a RTC or not? A few of us were discussing this today but did not come to a conclusion.

I have tried to look this one up on the PNLD, but am none the wiser. With arrest powers/search powers we seem to have a piece of legislation that says we have a power of search/arrest and then another piece that says we can use force to affect that arrest/search. When it comes to taking a child into police protection the law says we have a power to do it, but does not seem to mention that we have a power to use force on the child to do so. So what then when the child tries to run away, or refuses to go with you, or resists you? Any input on this would be great.

Well the background first, A friend of mine lives on a private estate where the roads are own by the estate, and his standing on it is that he can ride round on a motorbike he doesn't have a licence for, and/or drive a car he doesn't have a licence for, which he does. Recently I voluntarily attended local PSNI station to make statement regarding an argument at a wedding i was at. Basically, guy who works for my Fathers company got drunk and became aggressive towards my father over a pay rise. I intervened and although there was a brief scuffle with a few people, no injurys were sustained or punches thrown etc.. This guy lodged a complaint of assault against me. I got call from Con dealing with case few days back...She informed me that this guy had withdrawn his complaint and no further action would be taken. Can anyone tell me if it's an offence to park on a grass verge? I understand it could be criminal damage if the verge is destroyed, but is there a traffic offence? Also, is it an offence to leave a vehicle (taxed) on a road but jacked up with no tyres? Maybe it could be classed as dangerous? Thank you for your advice. Vonnie

I have recently been involed in a case which led to a Social Worker being dismissed from employment due to allegations that they performed lewd acts on the internet and were stalking someone round the corner from where they lived. Statements were collected from the alleged victim and a Strategy meeting to look into any criminal activities or child protection concerns was undertaken. None of these were substantiated. What is the minimum age that person needs to be to be reported for an offence? IE small amount of criminal damage. Is this the same age that a person needs to be to be arrested?

This is a bit of a confession on my part! a number of years ago when i was on acting duty a specials car bought into me a pidgeon. turns out they were approached by some kids to say that two other kids had been under an exposed railway line where pidgeons nested and they had plucked (pun) two pidgeons out from their roost and proceeded to stick fish hooks into their eyes! the specials had confiscated one of the pidgeons and bought it back to the nick to present to me! how did i deal with it? i bagged and tagged the pidgeon and stuffed it into the dna fridge! then went off to see the mums of the two lads involved and wrote it off as advice given. what should i have do…

For the last few days there has been a woman of Indian/Asian appearance sitting on the pavement outside the local Sainsburys, selling a magazine of some sorts about homelessness. Its NOT the Big Issue. We've moved her on a few times now at the request of the store staff however she keeps returning. CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE OFFENCE. RECIEVED A CALL RECENTLY AT WORK. THE CALLER STATED THAT HIS DAUGHTER AGED 14 YEARS WENT INTO TOWN HER FRIENDS MUM AT WHICH POINT THEY VISITED A TATTOO PALOUR. THE IPS DAUGHTER FILLED IN A CONSENT FORM AT THE TATTOISTS STATING THAT SHE WAS 19 YEARS OLD IN ORDER TO GET A TATTOO-THE FRIENDS MOTHER COUNTER SIGNED THE FORM FRAUDUENTLY WITH THE SIGNITURE OF THE DAUGHTERS MOTHER. The Human Rights Act 1998 was implemented in the UK in 2000 to protect the rights of us all. But is it really fit for the purpose? Being the old cynic that I am, I believe the only individuals that really seem to reap the benefits of this act are the criminals and their solicitors. The solicitors make a tidy sum from legal aid and the prisoners who hire them get free legal representation and compensation. The latest piece of proposed legislation under the act is to allow prisoners the right to vote.
