Can someone be given Police Bail whilst waiting for an appointment for CPS i.e. two month wait. I always thought suspects had to be either released or charged once the investigative stage was complete? Anyone help?

Just wanted to gauge what serving Police Officers think of drivers driving on a revoked licence. 1 Is it your understanding that if the licence is revoked, the driver is driving without a licence? 2 If the answer to the above is Yes, would you seize their vehicle under Section 165? 3 Have you ever heard of the DVLA sending s driver a revocation letter but telling them they can still drive for 12 months. I am a serving Police officer and have only just come up against this scenario. I did of course charge them with driving without a current licence and had the vehicle seized. A person is making a complaint where they are stating criminal damage has been caused to two of their conifers by the tops have been broken off and put back in their garden. This is apparently been done by a neighbour conifers are approx 2 metres in height and the part that has been snapped off is approx 5 inches is this criminal damage?

Had quite a big discussion in my class today (me vs everyone else pretty much ) would this constitute an "attempt" under the criminal attempts act 1981: "john wants to break into a car to steal an ipod on the back seat. He picks up a big rock in order to smash the window to get in, he lifts his arm back in order to throw in down towards the window but a mop grabs his throwing arm before he can throw it. What it says on the tin really. When police bail is breached what happens? Is the person then liable for arrest, and if so what happens then? Can the person be held while the investigation is completed, or is it a case of breach of police bail being a separte offence with a separate punishment?

I was cautioned awhile back for something. One ex-copper has suggested i should complain regarding some procedural irregularites in making the caution (apart from the rest). However, if I were to make a complaint, would a record be kept of this on the PNC? Could it affect subsequent treatment of cautions etc? When a caution is stepped-down?

Here's one I can't find the answer to, despite speaking to all the parties involved. In the city I live in, a private security firm have been drafted in to stop people trying to enter the car parks of some of the shopping centres blocking box junctions, roundabouts and the like. This is all well and good as all they are doing is stopping vehicles from entering the premises of the people who have employed them. However they tried to direct me into the car park on one occasision and on another tried to make me stop whilst on the public highway, having passed the entrance to the car park. I'm trying to locate a case whereby a male and female had consensual sex. However, the female died as a result from the action of the male - The ''act'' was consensual and the female agreed to this particular act. Can any help me. Hi, I was wondering about the smoking ban and why is it not being enforced in what are known as Shisha/Hookah bars (For those who don’t know Shisha/Hookah pipes are those things you put coal on top of which have a basin full of water and a pipe coming out of them used to smoke tobacco). It is legal for them to be sold in the UK providing that they are smoked outside according to what I could find out on the internet. I can only speak for my area (Leeds) where I know of at least two of these bars that let you smoke them inside. Clearly this must be illegal but it is done so openly and I have seen uniformed officers sitting in the café part of these bars once or twice.…

Morning All, Could someone clarify exactly what Sec 138 of Mental Health Act empowers us to do? We have recently had new guidelines from our local Trust, but they seem to be very unclear. The way I read it is that we have the power to detain a person that escapes an Ambulance that was on the way to a place of safety for a Mental Health Assesment; and return them to said place of safety for an assessment. I assume we would be expected to wait with them whilst this was done. Also, I was wondering if we could use this power if the patient leaves the place of safety after they have been delivered there by ambulance. i.e we get a lot of overdose patients that leave the ho…
