Hi, I had defaulted on my car payments & received my default notice...the debt had been passed over to a debt collection agency ...who never contacted me. I was then sent a county court date through for the 17th Dec, i wanted to attend and defend myself and apply for a time order due to just getting back into full time employment but unfortunately i was late for the hearing and it had already been heard! the claimant didn't attend either!!! Hey all. Person X was arrested for a serious crime and given bail to attend a police station / court. It then came to an officer's attention that Person X had booked a ticket to travel to Spain before his bail date. My question is: Are there any powers to stop this male from travelling if: a) Person X had been released on police bail pending further investigation b) Person X had been released on police bail pending a charging decision c) Person X had been charged and bailed to go to court d) Person X had been indicted by magistrates and granted bail from court Would an officer have to prove the male would attempt to abscond rather than just show he intended to tra…

i bought a car 2 days ago, and i drove it on the road without insurance and i am only holding provisional driving licsence. a police car stopped me and ask a recovery to take my car away and give me a seizure notice. the car is only worth couple hundred pound, and i am not willing to take it back, do i need to tell the police i dont want to claim it back or just leave it, if i just leave it would make things worse? what would happen next? would i receive some from the court? the police didn't say anything about that when they are processing my case. can someone give some advice

Tonight I was in town doing a bit of shopping. When I came back to my car there was a group of boy racers and noticed a few had the tail lights actually painted the same colour as the cars body. When they were turned off they just looked like part of the body and when they were turned on there as a dim pathetic glow coming from them. There was also a few people with blacked out rear lights that again looked quite dull. Am I correct in thinking these are illegal? The way I understand it you can not alter any E marked part after its approved and marked as this renders the E mark void. Is this correct? Am I also correct in thinking vehicle lights must be E or BS marked and …

my neighbour who has a one year old child is driving around in her car without holding a full driving licence. apart from the adverse weather we are having surely it must be illeagal for her to be driving without a full licence and no one else in the car with her except her child and no L plates ? i was under the impression that you had to have someone in the car with you at all times and they must of held there licence for 3 years and over 21? yet when we first reported this to the local police we were told that its perfectly ok for her to be doing that???? apart from the fact she is putting her child at risk she is also putting innnocent law abiding people at risk is…

Can you clarify the difference please. How long can someone be detained for? For what reasons would they be detained? Thanks. If your not arrested, is it still down on record for a future employer to see.?

hi, my son is 17 and has recently accumilated 6 points on his driving licence and got his licence revoked. so he applied for a new one and has re-done his test etc. Unfortunetly the other day he got caught speeding again and im guessing hes going to get another 3 points...... so i want to know, what will happen now? bit random i no but i live in sussex and me and a couple of friends went out for a drive and the friend in my car said let me take u to a field as was icey. so we went to this field unbeknown to me owned by a private school and he drove my car uninsured on their field. the police were called and i had admit it was me driving for him even tho it wasnt . the police gave us a roadside interview and said its being reported (to court) and details would be handed to the school of us. i have been to the school explained the situation and they said they aren't going to take any action against us as we came and admitted and appologised to them just wondered if anyone cud advis…

Ok, i know few of you know my possible plans to eventually come and live in the UK if everything works out with my sweetheart. But since this is police forum, I might as well ask this here. When i was 17 i was charged with petty larsoni (I was an IDIOT, i know, and had a misunderstanding in a bookstore over a book), charges were later dropped, I was never convicted of anything, case was dissmissed and my records were sealed. I never had a brush with a law since then. I know UK is tough when it comes to dealing with people trying to come over, even with a record that was dismissed / sealed. But this irks me badly. Do you have any feedback?

Was on patrol on saturday... what law if any.. can you do these annoying people that clean your car window, when you stop at traffic lights... took their wipers away and their squeezy bottles but i know they will be back..............

I had an interesting one yesterday. I stopped a woman driving an ice cream van for not wearing her seatbelt. We had followed her for about 2 miles before pulling her to make sure she wasn't doing the rounds. I was told by the lady concerned that she had insurance that allows her not to wear a seatbelt and that Ice Cream vans were exempt from seatbelt legislation. I even got the "I've been driving an ice cream van for 35 years and have never been pulled". A little taken aback and doubting myself I offered suitable advice about the safety of wearing a seatbelt (which fell on deaf ears) and I said I would go away and check the law. She got away without a ticket this time …

Right, im sick and tired of boy racers and milf's tailgating me while im doing the speed limit on the motorway (I passed in march, and I dont want to loose my licence, or kill someone) - I was thinking of getting some of those yellow flashing beacon (you know, the LED ones) and sticking them on the parcel shelf - if an idiot gets close enough to me, ill give them a flash, if they dont get the message, ill turn it on and forget about it... Is it legal? Am I being an idiot?
