Vehicle stops, driver appreciates they were all over the road and takes my advice on board. I then run the index through the PNC and it comes back that the MOT expired two days ago. The driver is adamant they took their car in for an MOT and it passed. You ask the driver whether they have the MOT certificate on them - which they don't. Would you issue a HORT/1 or a FPN? Not really the right section, but has anyone got any advice with working Security especially in Hospitals? I'm planning things out at the moment incase my application with MerPol goes up in the air, and wouldn't mind working in A&E as Security for the experience. My uncle paid 390 quid for his licence, but he thinks because I'm 18 I may have to pay more, and will be limited on where I work (such as retail)? I don't fancy paying 390 quid (or more?) only to be limited to sitting in some old building for 12 hours, 4 days a week alone. Cheers.

Hello, well.. I am a police student in Germany and currently writing a summary about the differences in german and english police law. In Germany we differ between preventiv powers and repressive (??) powers, we have even differnt laws for it! As the english law, common law, is quite different to what I have learned here, I am getting more and more confused, so I thought somebody here might be able to help.. At the moment I am looking at powers of arrest. What powers do you have got to prevent sth? I know about the Arrest for a breach of the peace, but is there more? Over the past couple of years, I have been observing the interpretation of the UK police force of the common law offence of assault under s39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988. The obvious distinction between this offence and battery is the presence of contact in the latter and absence of contact in the former. When I was a Special years ago, I can remember learning about various bits of legislation regarding PACE and getting particularily confused with s25! Now I won't go into the specifics of it as I know it's changed, but what has it changed to and has it affected any other parts of PACE. I start my training again in April and there's nothing about this in the manual I had back then!! Any help is great, thanks!

Well? Can a woman legally ask for your helmet to urinate in? My understanding is that there must be no other facilities nearby, but surely that is not true, would I have to give it? and more importantly, what would happen if i said no!

Hi I need some info on homophobic crime. I haven't had to deal with any yet, but it did occur to me that I wasn't aware of any specific legislation, similar to racial and religious boltons. Would we just be looking at the standard public order offences for words and crim dam for graffiti? Thanks

Recently I had cause to stop a UK registered vehicle being driven by a national from another EU country. Although he had been here for 9 years as resident, he kept going back to this EU country (a Baltic state) every now and again. The address on the licence was his parents' address in that country. What is the actual law on retention of this licence? It seems the insurance companies don't care so long as it's an EU licence declared to them, but surely if he's been here this long he isn't allowed to retain it?
