When related to vehicles, are section 59s held on the car, or the driver? I.e. if the driver sold the car they were stopped in, and began using a new vehicle, would there still be a section 59 in place?

I know someone who is a health saftey and enviroment and quality control manager. He sometimes gets a call out and he needs to get to work. Would it be legal for him to get a orange light, for when he needs to get to work?

First of all ... just want to state that we didnt give the PCSO any greif or hassle ... too old for that ... and simply complied with his wishes. However, a few things 'bothered me' and I simply have some questions. Can you be charged with this offence if you have comprehensive insurance coverage but are driving someone else's car (and that someone else does not have insurance)? Also if the police impound a car and keep the documents which show you are the registered owner how would someone get the car back given that, as I understand it, to get the car back you need certain documents to prove your identity. It seems to be catch 22. Surely the police should give such docuements back? This is not an ongoing issue.

Having just done my first shift with my tutor the other day and realised how terribly green I am I am using my incredible amount of free time (finished uni till oct.) to learn as much as I can to be useful to my fellow officers. I think I have a general idea of what are the most essential / necessary powers but just want to see some other peoples opinions. So what do you think are the most essential policing powers vital to patrol work? Cheers

Road Traffic Act offence of 'quitting' which is when a person leaves their vehicle's engine running while they are not in it, any one know the act, I can't find it

Basicy, I was in a class at school, and my teacher said to an assistant teacher " can your turn the projector on, because those midjets wont be able to reach". Refering to me and my friend. Would that come under section 5 public order act? On other occasions, she has put a letter I recieved from my church in the bin. Is that breaking the law?

I was thinking of this the other day, if you drive a car after a night on the sauce you are being illegal, same as if you ride a motorcycle. if you are in a car, and you are a drunk passenger belted up and sitting nice, you are fine. but say you are a pillion passenger on a motorbike, is their limits on drinks for them? or is it "your funeral" i was thinking this as you are risking the riders safety if you come off or are imbalanced, and obviously there is a much much higher level of caution observation and safety needed on a motorbike.

If I post on a forum an request a username change and it is denied. What can I do to kind of force them to change it. What laws/acts could I use to make then think about denying me the username change. Now, bare in mind I have valid reasons for the username change, but have been denied it. Thanks

Is a place of work a public place? A few variations: 1 An office which has no visitors; 2 An office that has external cleaners for example 3 A shop. I know 3 is a public place, I think 2 is too, but unsure where the line is between 1 and 2.

My car radio doesnt work so I often drive around listening to my ipod. Not through any fancy speaker thing, just the regular in-ear headphones that come with an ipod. Just out of interest am I actually commiting any offence? Or is this completely legal? If it is an offence how would an officer go about dealing with it? Thanks

Hi all, just a quick question, I work in a supermarket on the checkouts and I've just found out that soon we will be adopting a new "Challenge 25" scheme. This means that we will have to ID anybody who looks under 25 if they are buying any alcohol or cigarettes. Seems a bit strict to me and I just wanted to know what officers such as yourselves would do if you saw myself (or any other cashier for that matter) serve somebody who was under age. What offences would have been committed and what would be the result? The Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland has recently made a significant ruling in an application for the judicial review of the arrests of several people in Northern Ireland.
