Hi all, At the risk of criticism about not finding out about this sooner or not already knowing our responsibilities regarding this topic, I want to ask your advice regarding the filming or photographing of Police activities. I am aware that we do not have a "power" to stop a member of the public filming or photographing us. Just wondered exactly what powers security guards/shopkeepers have to detain suspected shoplifters? My last arrest was at a shopping centre, where an individual had been detained in the back room for nearly 2 hours. If we hadn't put up for the call it would have been for even longer! Are there any limits on how long they can be held, before the police arrive?

Hello, hello! The other day we did our racial and religious aggravated assault bit of our training and we came upon the bit which talks about how someone's lack of a religious belief counted as a religiously aggravated. And we got to talking and our instructor wasn't sure if it had ever come up in a court case before. So I was just wondering if anyone had come across any court cases which are religiously aggravated in regards to atheism? Thanks alot!

i live in a satelite town known as bracknell, just outside of reading, ive applied to the MET police and im currently waiting on my references, ive been taking note as of recent about the vast amount of drug activity in my town, and the EASE in which large quantities can be bought, i have been offered and asked for drugs on several occasions and although i have no power at present to do anything about these offers, i feel it is wrong that i do not take an action towards this! especially considering what my employment could be in several months! i would also like the add that these offers have ranged up to class A drugs. advice please?

What are the laws on wing mirrors for cars and motorcycles? I vaguely remember it being a 30 FPN? Also, on a seperate note, its not against the law to have the interior lights on is it? Just highway code best practice right? Thanks

On patrol I was approached by a motorist who stated that she had been given parking fines based on her VRM plates being used filmed on CCTV that were on a different car to hers. She had appealed to the Local Authority over the fines and they are investigating. She asked my more experienced colleague what offences the other car had committed as they were driving around with her VRM. He informed her to report this to the DVLA. Hi all, Recently I was unlucky enough to sit near some rather undesirable people on public transport. During the course of their discussion I became aware that they either had, or planned to, travel around flyering all the passengers and empty seats. They weren’t engaging in the activity at the time but they both had shoulder bags with large quantities of the flyers. I understand there is a specific offence for flyering phone boxes (and I’d be interested if someone could tell me what the offence is so I can go and find out more about it). Last Year a relationship I had been in came to an end. Said relationship had always been a very torrid relationship lasting about 9 years. With this offence, could you use it for taking a traffic cone or removing temporary signs from road works? Lets say in my example, some drunken fools remove a sign from some road works and a cone, walk down the street wearing the cone and using it as a mega-phone before dumping them on some ones door step and legging it. Or does this specific refer to items in say an art galler or museum?
