Hi there, just a quick question, obviously I'll not go into too much details, it's more just to ease a mind. :) Basically my girlfriend witnessed a theft at her work a few weeks ago (it was also caught on cctv I believe), she works in the leisure industry, it was a customer who commited the theft. She knows the identity of the person involved as she used to work at a school with the daughter of the customer. My girlfriend let the management know this and tonight she was asked to give a statement to the Police, in her words "because it's the right thing to do", I agree. I work in a well known car parts and bike shop. On my shift today a colleague was chasing a shoplifter who had nicked a load of gear. Not sure on the details but during the scuffle the shoplifter pulled out a syringe and stabbed my colleague twice with it IF he gets caught, I'm wondering what this guy is likely to get charged with?

Someone carries out a 'quick change scam'. Basically, baffling a cashier when paying for an item or asking for change and ending up with more money than when they started, leaving the shop out of pocket. What's the offence? Is it a simple as a straight forward theft?

Dear all, Just a quick clarification required if at all possible... I recently parked on a relatively quite road for approximately 6 hours, just outside town. There are no parking signs or enforcements on the road. On my return, two cars were touching on either end of my car - not even a forklift would have cleanly got it out! A little intimidating. As im sure some of you are aware, the European Arrest Warrant came into force on the 1st January 2004. It means that someone in Britain can be deported for something which is not considered a crime in Britain and if a warrant is issued, the British courts have no obligation to review the case before extraditing someone to a European country to stand trial. It was originaly introduced to "fast track" the extradition of terrorists and criminals escaping the justice system of the country where they are accused of a crime and in that i cant argue with it, but it is a blanket act and so relates to anyone accused of any crime where the sentance is more than 1 year. recently i was co-driving a friend who got stopped by the police. after a check, they found he did not have insurance. he was unaware of this as the insurance company had made an error when they changed a detail on his policy. That was 5 month ago. Today he received a court summons. Does this mean that i too will have to go to court even though i had checked the document that showed he was insured. I have no previous driving convictions and am always up to date with paying for my insurance policies. Would the police take this into account as i would hate to have to go to court and end up with points for something that wasn't my fault. Can you help? Will i too receive a …

So there is a well known plumber in London who appears to like using number plates to make up plumbing terms and also did used to have a static blue lamp on the front of the vehicle like a taxi. So Whilst I know that you could ticket the driver for the offences, what would you do with the fleet manager, as I guess they are causing and permitting? Would you consider looking at the MD to? Also how would you deal with it get traffic supervisor to go into the yard or just ticket as you see them?

Theoretically would there be no offence or breach of policy if a MoP for example my missus were to wear my helmet or fleece in a photo on say facebook? Just for comedy value, where it would be obvious no impersonation was intended, and any reasonable person could see she wasn't an officer or even trying to look like one? Hi just a question to try and help a good freind. Is there a law or act in opening another person's mail? Also threatining to use these details (name, address, DOB, bank details) in carrying out fraud? Obviously the fraud one is a no brainer however what about the avtually "threat to do so"? Basically a colleague's girlfreind used to live with someone else, she moved out and Went to Royal mail and done the neccessary to have her mail re-directed. It appears they have made a misstake and not delivered this mail to her new address. Apologies if this has been raised before and I haven't bothered trawling through to read what's already been said. The federation magazine mentioned a national uniform to be rolled out by 2012. As we all know we work in an organisation racked with rumour and hear-say. Things are often talked about and planned by the powers that be, only to be hailed as 'trials' when it's discovered that they don't work! Wondering if anyone can shed any light on whether we're to get one and general opinions on whether it would be a good idea/what people would wnat from it.
