My 18 year old brother has got to go in tommrrow for questioning about common assualt. We are all very worried about this becuase he is already on his final warning befor he has to go to court, im am wondering wht will happen to him will he be sentenced to jail or will he be given some other sort of punishment please can anyone help with answers? cheers

I would like the answer to this question which has been really bugging me - Is a provisional licence holder insured in the event of a claim if driving whilst unaccompanied? Lets say he is a named driver on his wife's insurance and the car is in his wifes name on the log book. Would she also be aiding and abetting him if she knew of this offence and also if she denied knowing of the offence is he taking the vehicle without the owners consent? But my main question is he insured in the event of a claim?

We're constantly being told that the threat of terrorism is on the rise and the bombings of 7/7 (i hate that phrase) highlighted this. Officers who work at Airports are armed. Officers who work at MOD premises are armed, along with officers in the CNC, so why aren't officers who protect our train stations? With the lack of security at train stations e.g. no body scanners / metal detectors etc. this would seem to make the stations an easier target for any wouldbe terrorist, so would it not make sense to ensure the officers who patrol the stations can defend themselves and the MOP's who use the station?

Hi, When I was fifteen years old I entered an abandoned factory (Very stupidly!) with my mates and was arrested and was given a final warning for Burgulary and Theft I was told at the time that it would be removed in five years from my record and no longer show up (I'm now nearly 20) I was recently told that it would never be removed so don't know what to believe! There is a fair bit of "preventative" legislation out there that can be used to intercept people before they have committed a "main offence" - by creating laws that create offences around preparing to commit other offences. "Going Equipped to steal" is an offence and "going equipped" to commit assaults or fraud is also an offence (off weap legislation, Fraud Act). I must say that as custody sergeant I am becoming increasingly worried by the number of people who are arranging for people to attend a station to be interviewed and then arresting for P&E only. If an interview is the only LOE - i.e there is no question of other enquiries such as a s18 or ID procedure, then where voluntary attendance has been arranged, why do we need to arrest? I was just wondering, when you make an arrest if you know someone has commited an offence, theft assualt etc, as in it's blatant. If you know they have done it but don't know the exact legislation/wording does that alter things? For example, you stop someone acting suspicously and perform a drugs search then arrest (assuming reasonable suspicion has arrisen, passing small packages etc) but you don't know the exact wording of the offence. I know having coke is illegal but I don't know the exact legislation. At an event last week which also had a MET Forward Intelligence Team in attendance, I was filmed. As I understand the law I am entitled to request a copy of the footage as long as it isn't being used as evidence of a criminal case. There were no arrests and the whole event was very good natured between the police and the public. Any ideas how I would go about getting a copy or who to call? I know this isn't a legal advice site but i figured the chances are someone here would know the answer, which will be quicker than just sending a general email to Scotland Yard to find out. Got a Q about wildcamping in a caravan..Now i wild camp a lot as dont like paying campsite fees as i only stay the night plus they can be very snobby...I pull will my transit van(yeah know what some of u may be thinking now.travelor springs to mind) Over at the wildcamping forum someone has said its illegal to now wild camp in a caravan if not in a proper camp site.. Can any body tell me what the conservatives / Lib Dems / Labour intend to do with the future of the Police Force in this country. There is a general election coming up as we all know, but I am being told that if the conservatives get in they will apply a tax to our pensions... and make further cuts to spending.... however CSO's will go ! Say someone stole something and gave it to someone as a present/gift and you weren't aware they stole it? where does the person who now owns it stand if they got found out? Does it still count as handling stolen goods if you didn't know it was stolen at first? What would happen if they then found out through an argument and they decided to go to the Police and admit they'd been given it as a present without knowing? What's the charge for this?
