OK - two separate questions: You attend a RTC and need to close the road to allow safe working: what are our powers? There's a parade marhing along the high street and you need to close the road to allow safe passage: what are our powers? Thanks in advance, Steve

Hello to all Not sure if this has been previosuly discussed, or is too simple for anyone else to have asked! What is the difference between Outraging Public Decency and Indecent Exposure? An example or two of each would be helpful Thanks

Morning, if an employee is driving a company pool car and is done for speeding via a camera, and then states that they were not driving the car, and no one can prove they were driving it either, who ultimately is responsible for the fine and possible points? Is it the company? and if so who in the company would carry the points?

Appreciate a policeman's viewpoint on this: 1. Lessee attempts to get information out of freeholder regarding previously paid services charges. 2. Freeholder refuses information, so Lessee puts service charge in dispute. 3. Freeholder takes legal action. 4. Lessee defends action using previous LVT decisions to show no liability due to freeholder failing to observe L&T act requirements. 5. Freeholder withdraws action, citing same reason given in defence. 6. Freeholder then writes to mortgage company claiming lessee owes service charge. 7. Lessee writes to mortgage company explaining court action withdrawn by freeholder and that lessee has no liability for charge…

I'm not looking for legal advice, but I've spent a fair few hours trying to find out online what would happen to someone if they were reported to the police for getting debts in a family members name? There seems to be very little info on what happens or what the regular procedure is and depending on what does happen will sway my decision on whether to report them... if that makes sense? Any info that anyone can provide would be much appreciated! I have a feeling it will be a civil issue, but would they be investigated by the police first?

As the title suggests, I was wondering what the legality is of a 17 year old drinking alcohol while out at a picnic. I know it's legal for one to have a drink at meal times, or when out at a restaurant but the law is rather grey on the subject of drinking out of doors in a non-typical manner.

Trading standards has issued a warning after an eBay seller from County Durham became the first in the UK to be prosecuted for online auction fixing. Paul Barrett is facing a fine of up to £50,000 after using two separate eBay accounts to bid against himself. He told Skipton Magistrates' Court that he did not know it was a criminal offence to do so. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8632331.stm I think quite a lot of people get their friends and families to bid for their items, this really must be the tip of the iceberg

What's the rules on having a foreign registered car on British roads when it comes to VELs? IS there any way of finding out how long they have been in the country? AS, I assume, once they have been here for a certain period they'll need a VEL.

I'm working on a screenplay for part of my M.A. research and am trying to make sure that my portrayal of police procedures is as accurate as possible. The scenario concerns a suspect who loses control of their car during a pursuit. They are not injured other than, say whiplash and bruising. In one of the pursuing vehicles is a D.I. who is investigating the case. First of all - is this accurate? Would a D.I. be involved in a pursuit? Secondly, in terms of questioning - who would take the suspect in? How long would it take before they were interviewed, and what intervening steps would need to take place between their arrest and the interview (medical exams, etc)? How wo…

Back in March a 22 year old is found guilty of 3 counts of criminal damage on different dates totally £300 and one case of shoplifting, he pleads not guilty to another. He has previous for Shoplifting and is of no fixed abode. This week he's up in court for two separate offences, don't know the outcome of one, but is convicted of the second (the one he pleaded not guilty to at court in March). He was actually arrested on the morning of the hearing for another offence and he still gets bail until they decide what to do with him. I thought people were supposed to be remanded in custody if there was a chance of re-offending. This individual has no fixed address, a history …

So I've spent the evening at a BBQ with friends when I notice one of them has left after drinking 6 or 7 cans. Have a look around and see his car and keys have gone. This isn't the first time he's done it. He's drove after drinking every weekend for the past 6 or 7 months so decided enough is enough. Now it's not easy "grassing" on a mate, so obviously I didn't take the decision lightly. I phoned the GMP non-emergency number which rang out for atleast 4 - 5 mins with no answer, so decided to dial the 9's instead, as although he would have been approaching home, he could have stopped somewhere to get more drink / something to eat etc. The call went something like thi…
