Hi guys, I hope this is the right forum. I'm writing a script where the police officer realises that the murder he's investigating was a mistake and that the real target is unaware that she's a target. It's late at night too. At this point it's just a hunch - no hardcore evidence or witness statements - just your average Columbo piecing the puzzle together. im sure the answer is yes but im after a little more info, if you have a shed/car stopped and it is a shed ie sharp edges bits falling off and you think its PG9able would some one be arrestable if they decide not to stick around for the traffic officer to come and prohibit it. first thought would be fail to stop?

Sorry, I'm not quite clear on how shoplifting isn't theft under S1 of Theft Act 1968: "A person is guilty of theft, if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it; and "thief" and "steal" shall be construed accordingly." Is a Taser a prohibited firearm or is it "only" an offensive weapon? I.e. is it an offence to own one?

I've often heard ambulance staff (paramedics, technicians etc.) state that they have a "duty" to get involved when off-duty. Apart from a moral obligation I cannot find any statutory obligation for them to get involved. When I pressed for legal authority to support the proposition, they didn't know. So does a doctor, paramedic or nurse (regulated by the; GMC, HPC, NMC (in that order)) have ANY legal obligation to involve themselves and if so, where is this written in law/regulation? As a side note I do understand that the insurance cover of some NHS trusts covers off-duty intervention.

Can someone please advise. Someone purposely attempted to drive their car into my husband and stopped within inches of him - the only reason he was not injured was because he jumped out of the way. The driver then yelled abuse at him and clearly wanted a fight. My husband was adult enough to walk away but has been left extremely shaken by the whole incident as it was a near death experience. After reading the definitions I'm struggling to understand the difference. Is this right; for s18 you have to have intent, but for s20 you don't have to have intent? Without simply re-quoting, can anyone explain when you would use either s18 or s20 please?

Just wondered how under inflated a tyre pressure would have to be percentage wise before you considered giving an FPN for it?

In Southampton, private hire vehicles are permitted to have almost all the same exemptions that taxis have for bus lanes, bus only roads, pedestrianised zones etc. but not one of the signs has "private hire vehicles" on it. Since the majority of the signs do not match up with the traffic regulation orders they are supposed to show, would that make them unenforceable? I remember reading about some case law that if the signs do not exactly meet regulations etc. then the TRO cannot be enforced. Can anyone shed any light on this? I hope that the council has not made a mistake, otherwise it might result in a lot of traffic regulations in the city being defunct! I've included …
