im thinking of joining the specials during uni (2nd-3rd years) as i reckon itll be good experience for when i apply for the regulars after i leave uni i've heard of regular applications taking up to a year to go through (from filling out the form, to finishing the fitness and starting the training etc) so i was wondering whether the specials application takes as long from form to being accepted. i hope to join the Met specials if that helps as a time guide

I had a day 2 assessment and took in my medical form and filled it in myself - I know forces are different but I didn't visit the Doctor and ask him to fill it in Others on here have said how they visited the Doctor and he filled it in and they then took it to the day 2. did i have a stupid moment and not read the instructions properly or was I right to fill in and then they contact the doctor?

Do you still help out with the riot training. pretending to be rioters. Those were fun days. RAF Syston was an ideal place to do that and i must admit we did go over the top throwing things. But hey it was fun. Also did anyone go to the riot training on the Camp site in Caistor On Sea ? Wake up...eat....riot....dinner....riot.....tea.....changed...booze up...wake up hungover. ( for four days )

I have a few questions about becoming a special in the WM area. Firstly, i'm currently a student at Birmingham Uni studying Psychology. Recently I have been drawn to forensic psychology and my boyfriend is currently doing his training to be a special and it's really caught my attention. I think it's something I would really like to do, however, I wasn't sure if the WM police and any feelings towards students or if they didn't mind either way? Also, i'm an 18yr old girl, i'm 5'8" and roughly 137lbs...hardly the scariest person to go up against, would this hold me back? I also have a massive passion for dogs, I have two of my own at home that I've done basic training wit…

Hey, I was thinking of perhaps applying to become a special when I hit 18 and then later on get training to become a regular PC. But I was wondering what is the difference between specials and PC's, other than that Specials aren't paid? Do PC's have more authorities such as stop and search than specials? Sorry...I'm a bit new to this, I saw about volunteer specials and thought it could be viable to start with.

Hey there Is it possible to Apply for the Regulars whilst your serving time in the Specials? Or would it require you to have actually left the Specials before you can apply. Just to shed some light on an issue iv been thinking about, for when i leave school. I'm aware that you have to complete a minimum of 1 year in the Specials Constabulary, before applications will be considered for the Regulars (In Strathclyde). Thanks guys :smiley_notworthy:

Some questions in relation to Specials... 1. Do Specials drive cars/vans? 2. Do they go out with a normal PC, patrol, drive as everyone else? 3. If they put in the effort and work hard, can they be actully respected? Cheers

Can anyone help me ..On the 7th Of may i have my assessment for a special. I know that this is not as hard as a wpc assessment..I know u only have a few basic questions (really easy) and a interview which is based on extending what u have written on your application. Does anyone know if there is a Roleplay test involved on the assessment for a special or is that only a WPC? In my letter they never mentioned a roleplay..Just basic questions and interview
