Hello to all you specials out there On your warrant card, does it display "Special Constable" or just "Constable". Does the Warrant Card have any details about you being a special on there?

Has anybody made the move from SC to PCSO? My force are no recruiting for police officers for about 2 years, but have opened up applications for PCSO's. Im currently a special, and love it, but i have lost interest in my day job and have decided i want to work full time in a position thats active and gives me life experience working with the police. Would you a) Stay as a special and fast track in if they open recruitment again and put up with day job you dont enjoy b) Apply to become a PCSO and leave the specials (i think this would be the case as the jobs conflict) to gain additional experiemce and knowledge of working with police on a daily basis, but loosing your …

I have applied to the regular police but am going to send off for the specials in the event I don't get into the police. Anyone have any knowledge of joining the Met special police and what is involved and how hard it is to get in? Also whilst looking at the application form I noticed the, "do you agree to having a test for substance misuse" part, which isn't on the regular application form. Why do they even ask that, I mean if you say no you might as well not bother with the application form, it isn't like you have a choice!

Hello I want to join specials and planning to post my application form very soon. However I have got couple of questions to ask before I post it. My husband has been arrested once when he was a teenager (19) for a pity crime (shoplifting) and he got a warning. He was doing a law degree at the time and asked police officers if his arrest will prejudice his career in law. The answer was no. So to this day he thinks that there is no record of him in the police even though he got arrested. He has changed his mind and became a businessman so never applyed for any jobs where they do CRB. Anyway, to cut the story short, I am now applying and wonder if my application will be pre…

**After passing the paper sift** And it stated... "after a long thought out process we are sorry not to offer you an appointment" I called up and asked where did it go wrong, and asked was it the vetting? She sais, no, it just sais application rejected, the chief inspector reserves the right to do that, which is fine, but i'm still curious why. Could it be im 19?

Hi, My wife is considering joining up as a special but can someone explain how much training is involved (how many weekends and is it at Ponteland/Durham?) and is it worthwhile? Is the recruitment the same as regulars i.e assessment day, fitness/medical etc... I start independent patrol myself on Monday so will ask similar questions but thought might get a head start here. Cheers Jeff

Hi, im new to the forums so first post!! Just applyed to D&C constabulary, passed paper sift and waiting for next round of PIRT in October. I know regs can apply for specialist training after so many years of 'walking the beat' (5 if my information serves me right). Stuff like dog handling, advanced driving or gaining afo status. I also know that specials are encourgaged to spend a bit of time with different roles within the police, but what are they like with granting specials the chance to actually train with these groups? I am guessing that it would be far to much to wish for, for a special to be granted afo or sfo status (hey, i can dream!!) but what are my c…

I am currently waiting for my final interview as a regular in the GMP, but at the same time I am just about to start training as a Special in North Yorkshire(back up). I was speaking to an another special and he told me becuase he had been in the NYP as a special for over 2 years he was getting a straight transfer to North Umbria (whether hwe had to retrain or not im not sure). Is this true, can you do that generally or do you think it was at the Cheif Officers discretion? If so I dont mind failing my GMP interview and being a special in NYP for 2 years! Sam

Hello, Everybody. Apologies first of all to moderators and readers if this topic is in the incorrect sub-forum. Please feel free to move it to the correct sub-forum. Sorry. On filling out the Met Police Special Constable application form. I have been stumped on what to fill out for my employment history. Since I have been self employed (Computer Engineer) since leaving College in 2003. My self employemt status is verifiable as I am registered with Her Majesty Revenue and Customs, Submit Tax returns. And pay a National Insurance Contributions every month. I am hoping that any Special Constables that had the same issue, Please post their experiences and resolutions t…

...what sort of things are covered in my first week of training? I'm doing the intensive course over the 3 weeks and wondered how I could possibly learn everything so quickly!! Will I be thrown straight in there and expected to know everything or do they take time to get to know you? I know thats a stupid question and everyone will say "yes they will get to know you and make you feel welcomed" but how long will they spend on this?!! Thankssss
