What's the difference? Why is it that after a sporting even (say Man City vs Reading) upon leaving the City fans are alowed to sing "You've had you're day out now f*** off home", where as if the same was sang later on tonight outside the local at chucking out time the same fan would probably end up being dealt with via s5?

Hey guys, just want your thoughts on this one. for my day job I'm a manager at a well established cinema who offer very kind discounts for emergency services employees and a few days back I got asked by one of my members of staff to attend the box office where a man was claiming to be a police officer but didn't have any ID Although he showed me 'the wallet of a warrant card' (the was no metal badge or card actually inside) I politely refused his discount as there was insufficient prove he was indeed a copper. Would this be classed as impersonating a police officer or would it be something else? Thanks in advance. Rob

I was wondering.... if someone with a criminal record/ marker on them goes and changes their name by deed poll to a totally different name, does the court which allowed the name change have to inform the police to let them know that "John Smith" is now known as "Rocky Terminator" (for example). whats the process so that that person stays in the radar? there must be some system in place (which you kind people will tell me about ) otherwise anyone with a blemish on their criminal record would just change their name.. good job im not a cat... the amount of curiosity i contain would be lethal

I recently found the knowledge that diplomats are exempt from ANY crime. I looked though things and found this is true, if they murdered someone ( as they did in 1900 something and shot a police officer through an embassy and got away with it ) all that can happen is that they are expelled from the country, and CAN be tried in their own, but rarely, no the question is, what would you do if you saw 2 people having a fight and one punches other in face then gives him a kick in. you go over to arrest and he shows diplomatic status. and that you cannot arrest him ( and that's true ) what would you personally do? If anyone can lighten up any laws or anything that would be grea…

If someone is shouting on a street corner but otherwise doing everything by the book, is extremely pleasant when approached and even moves along when asked. But just to another street corner and even another one after that. Fully complied with the old 'move along' stuff and you're thinking section 5 but it's hard to justify because he's so cooperative. Does that come anywhere near common assault on the basis that people clearly are being upset by it?

Your in a shopping centre and you see a male "pick pocket" a wallet out of another males pocket, you see him put the wallet straight into his own back pocket and head towards the exit. This happens on the other side of a food court fropm where you are, so rather than shout out or draw attention you make your way towards the suspect, follow him outside, catch up with and apprehend him. [the victim leaves the area at the same time] After searching and discovering the wallet, you open it to discover it is full of drugs [lets say 30 "wraps" of cocaine] What do you do? Is the pick pocket guilty of possession? [with intent?] Would you go after the "victim"? Just to mudd…

I was out on foot patrol today and saw a car purposely undertake another on a stretch of dual carriageway, obviously speeding, where the outside lane is heading straight on and the left hand lane is for a left turn. Are there any specific offences of undertaking because I haven't actual seen any or is it a branch of another type of offence and what type of prosecution I can give excluding the speeding offence.

Oh how I love these scenario topics! Let me set the scene.. Dark - night time around 22:00 Your car is parked outside your house directly in front of your bedroom window. Before you get into bed you just go to the window to close the curtain and you see a young looking male / boy breaking into your car.. You are obvoiusly off duty but have all of your kit except cs in your room.. As you watch him he gets the door open and is now probably trying to hotwire the car ... this would take some time I guess... so you have a few mins on your side.. Would you get your kit and go outside to stop the theft and cuff him? Or would you just call it in knowing that in a few mi…

Let me set the scene... You are stuck in traffic on motorway crawling Along andyoureither driving or the passenger and your looking at the car next to you and you see someone on their mobile while in control of their vehicle either talking or texting.... Would you get their attention flash your warrant card and action to put the phone away, would you leave it or do something else? I'm not a special yet but will hopefully be soon and see this quite often and curious what people would do in that situation.

http://www.cambridge...l-shoot-you.htm Basically a young girl was walking her dog in Cambridge when a young cyclist approached her from behind and threatened to shoot her if she did not take her clothes off. She did so and was forced too remove her underwear before he fled. If you were to come across this what would/could you arrest the suspect for?

A friend of mine and her boyfriend were attacked badly a while ago now. When it got to court, the offenders pleaded not guilty, and it has been passed over to Crown Court. She has been told to attend the trial, but has been given the address of a Magistrates. She's asked me why this is, and in all honesty I don't know. If it has been passed on to Crown Court, why is it taking place in a magistrates?

Hey, A car containing a family is travelling along the motorway. The young daughter in the car is car sick and vomits into a sick bucket/bowl of some variety. She continues to be sick but not in anyway medically threatening. The father pulls over onto the hard shoulder and switches on the hazards. They wait for the young girl to finish being sick. At this moment a Police car pulls up behind them. It has seen the car and has pulled over to see what's happening. Is this a reasonable reason for pulling into the hard shoulder? Does it class as an "emergency"? Thanks, Phil

It is around 11pm, you are driving along a dual carriageway, maybe with your indicated speed reading marginly more than the speed limit... (but realistically, not in the threshold of getting a ticket). A small, newish hatchback approaches you at some speed from behind, it tucks in behind you and pulls up next to you at a roundabout, to your right. While next to the vehicle, the driver (sole occupant, well dressed, smart looking young male) signals you to open your window. You do so - only for him to say - I'm a "Police Officer, just pull over a second I need to talk to you". You oblige, remain in your car, with the window open a touch to speak to him. He pulls in b…

I was asked this the other day and do not know the answer. If a learner driver is insured as a learner driver on their own car then passes their test but does not inform the insurance company, are they breaking the law or just their agreement with the insurance company? Technicaly they are insured to drive (supervised) but who would know unless they had an accident, (would it flag on the PNC check) Dale

Hi guys, a quick scenario. (And it is actually a scenario!!) A minibus full of 18+ lads/lasses are on their way to a football match, they have travelled a considerable distance and are drinking whilst on the minibus. They have stopped at a service station a few miles back and there are no other service stations/exits off the motorway for a considerable number of miles. You are on duty and see the minibus pulled over on the hard shoulder with a bunch of people urinating on the grass verge, in full view of the motorway. They explain that they have just pulled over because they were desperate and didn't need the toilet back at the service station, none of them are acting di…
