The local high mucky muck is having a bit of a do at his private estate and the RMP(TA) are in attendance, as are you as the local beat bobby. A few drunken locals turn and start taking the mickey out of the soldiers. The OIC tells you to "go away" (but not as politely) as they'll deal with it and it's obvious he doesn't mean a nice quiet chat over tea and biscuits. Do you let them go ahead, and who has seniority?

Guys, new to the forum so bare with me! Came across a confusing situation the other day and wanted your thoughts. I'm a PCSO and was on patrol when we got a shout of our local lads being abusive to passers by. When we arrived one lad immediately walked off. Never seen the guy before (done the same beat for the past year) but I kept an eye on him as he walked off and sat in the bus stop. While we were chatting to the usual suspects the same male walked back to where we were and picked something up from the floor which resembled a 'spliff'. The other lads looked at us as if it see if we had seen it and alot of them started chatting amongst themselves. At this point I dec…

I dont know the answer to this one so throwing it open!: An armed incident has occured, but the first officers on the scene are standard officers - and are operating a cordon around the incident. Armed officers arrive and after giving normal warnings to the suspect both of them receive gunshot injuries making them unable to respond further. The suspect moves forward with his weapon and as the armed response are not able to respond to the threat one of the standard officers (is that the term?) takes an armed response officers weapon, and after giving the suspect warnings shoots them -the suspect are then arrested and taken to hospital. No one dies during the incident. S…

I'm getting myself confused. What's the protocol for searching someone you suspect of going equipped for Criminal Damage (or for that matter, having caused it)? I'm trying to write some scenarios for some new SCs but I'm getting in a right pickle.

Last night an officer was helping me with paperwork and he gave me a scenario which i nearly got right and lets see if you old hand professiionals get it right first time?? A block of flats has 12 flats and one main entrance door to the block which is not locked or has any locks on it at all so anyone can enter as and when they please. One of the residents leaves their bike in the communal area like they have done for years and one morning comes out to find the bike has been taken. Remember no one has entered the flats just the communal area which as stated is not locked in any way. What is the offence commited?? :D (I feel i may be shot down in a hail of "you couldn…

B, is a baker and provides discounted foods to a chain of A public houses across Sanford Village. B missed last months payment and as soon as he knew, he paid A though internet banking. A was not having a good day and told A if he misses a payment again, he will switch the electric off at his flat. Just watching the Real Hustle and wondering why it's legal as they do commit the offences. They do give the items or cash back afterwards but the theft itself is still carried out and completed. Now I know there is some degree of artistic licence and that no-one will press charges when they know it's for TV but does that make it legal in the eye's of the law? Not really a scenario as such but couldn't think of where else to post!

Heard of a student prank sweeping a number of campuses this last year where layabout-drunken-student-types were spiking each others drinks with viagra .....(called a 'blue-beer'). Wondering two things Because sildenafil (trade name viagra) is a prescription drug in this country and has the potential to create or aggravate existing conditions, particularly of the heart, what are the potential crimes being committed...all of them? Has anyone encountered this prank?

Whilst watching one of those lovely cop dramas on cable last night there was a scene where a PC was sitting with a Superintendant chatting about an upcoming case. The Super was asking the PC to put things in his statement that the PC said he didnt see. Later on in the court room scene the PC was giving evidence and said his statement was fact. If you turned around in the court and said you were told to put things what would happen?

Hypothetical scenario, there's a funeral motorcade making its way slowly down the road, you're driving your police car on the road next to this one, you get a call saying you need to attend a shout, you turn your emergency lighting and siren on, you come across the back end of the funeral (hearse, limo's, people walking next to the cars, the lot), are you allowed (or do you) pass the procession or turn around and work out another way to go? I'd imagine if you did go past, the widow in one of the cars would be thinking to herself, "If only they responded that quick when Gerald was dying he may still be here today" Thanks.

If you were walking along the street and a kid who is aged below 10 starts yelling abuse at you from an open window of the car he is travelling in (i.e., head sticking out, fingers pointing), and is being actively encouraged to do so by the adults in the front of the car, do the adults commit any public order offences? For this scenario, lets say the the language is both offensive (i.e., swearing) and racially motivated. This hasn't actually happened, I am just curious!

Scenario: You are called to an incident whereby a young lady has reported that her ex-boyfriend, who has been harassing her for the past week, is verbally abusing her and not allowing her to enter her vehicle to go home. The previous harassment has been reported. Upon getting to the scene, you talk to the female, and she tells you that she came to meet her ex boyfriend in a public place, as he owed her an amount of money, which he said he would give back if she came to meet him. She tells you he has a history of mental illness. She asks him to move so that she can enter her vehicle in your presence, but he still refuses, saying he has done nothing wrong, and is causing…
