Busy mum orders a family size pizza costing £20 from the local pizza delivery shop when ordering she is told it will be 30 minutes. 25 minutes later the pizza arrives and the delivery man hands it over to the mum who checks it and sees it doesnt look very appetising so hands it back and says she isnt willing to wait for another one so is cancelling the order. The delivery man says she has to pay for it otherwise he will call the police. Has mum commited any offences?

LET'S SAY You stop a group of young lads because you see them walking down the street carrying alcohol. you ask for I.D, you take all the beer, but you spy what appears to be another bottle sticking out of one of the lads' jacket pockets. You ask him to take it out and he pulls out a Bong. (is this a local term or do people know what i mean?) In essence, it is just a couple of plastic bottles stuck together. Realistically, he'll be using it to take drugs, and he even reffered to it himself as "a bong". Does this justify a search? should we have confiscated the item? what would you have done?

Saw this the other day. You see a 'punk' in town carrying a 33" metal topped cane. It is approx 1.5 inches in diameter and very sturdy. You observe them for a few minutes and you see them behaving perfectly normally. They are not however using the cane as a walking aid. What action would you take if any?

You attend a report in the early hours of noise nuisance. You arrive, the house has all windows open, music is very loud and heard down the street. Banging on the door gets you nowhere, but its obvious this music wont stop. What can/do you do? And is the response different if somebody is inside and just drunk/ignoring you etc?

A driver is going along a quiet residential road observing the speed limit. A pedestrian on the pavement drops his shopping bag, and a 3 litre bottle of Cider rolls out, and is burst by the car tyre - driver hasn't a chance of missing it, and it leaks all over the road. Driver stops with every intention of apologising and as a goodwill gesture driver wants to cover the cost of said cider so the pedestrian can replace it. But, as the driver slows to a stop, the pedestrain starts shouting loud, obscene swearwords at the car and is walking towards it, but is not making threats or being physical. The driver who is alone (potentilly a lone female with a baby etc) is concerne…

You are on armed duty outside a Crown Court. (now you know why it's an academic question) A flat bed lorry with a large Airport style water cannon pulls up outside of where you are standing and a man on the back of the lorry fires the water cannon at you, knocking you and your colleague off your feet. As you are bowled out of the way a second group of men rush inside the yard and grab one of the prisoners. You notice that there are several lorries bowling officers off their feet and motorcycles etc and it is clear that it is an escape attempt. Any officer who approaches the vehicles is immediately knocked off their feet. Can you shoot the man operating the nearest wa…

You are on patrol coming to a junction when a group of teenagers run from around the corner. One of whom is carrying a tyre. On sight of you the one with the tyre throws it to the floor, the group disperse but the one who had the tyre isn't quick enough and with a very loud 'STOP RIGHT THERE' he remains rooted to the spot. You ask him why he was running to which he replies " I don't know. " So you ask why as soon as they spotted the police they all ran in the opposite direction "I don't know ". You decide to enquire about the tyre, whose is it? Where is it from? Why did you throw it on the floor? which is met with the response "It's mine for my bike, I got it from a fri…

I got myself into an unavoidable situation the other day and whilst I was able to talk out of it fine, it set me thinking about what offences had potentially been committed. I was walking along the pavement to the train station, outside some shops. I received a text message so put my hand in my pocket to pull out my phone. As I pull out the phone, a £10 note that was also in my pocket came with it, and fell on the floor. I bend down, pick it up and re-pocket it, and continue walking. I hear a shout behind me - "OI" - but didn't think it was aimed at me so carry on walking. Shortly afterwards I get a tap on the shoulder. A gentleman approaches me, and says "excuse me - …

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of A in the UK, however A is known to be residing in the US. Extradition proceedings are undertaken and result in US Marshalls escorting A onto a plane for the UK. Accompanying A on the flight to the UK is Detective Inspector B and Detective Sergeant C from a UK police force. When do DI B and DS C actually arrest and caution A with respect to the offences for which the warrant was issued? Is it when A is handed over by the US Marshalls on US territory? Is it sometime during the flight? Is it when the plane arrives in the UK? Is it another time? I assume they must arrest and caution at some point - am I wrong? (Sorry if this is in …

Just been watching goodnight sweetheart on ITV3, one of the characters is a printer and has reproduced some 1940's £5 notes. If this were real life (and not TV) would there still be an offence of forgery? Even if the money was no longer legal tender?

A woman goes to get her hair cut and coloured. She shows one of the hairdresser employees the colour( for this example blonde) and style she wishes her hair to be. After sometime treatment is finished and her hair is by far the wrong, a redish brown with highlights of blonde. The customer is not happy with the result. Where does she stand? Does she have to pay for the hair cut but not the colouring etc. Simon.

Imagine if you will. You're driving along behind a skip lorry with skip attached. Inside the skip are 2 estate cars, nose down in the skip one on top of the other, boots towards the rear. When questioned later the company who operates the lorry states that "You think it is not safe... but in 12 years we have never lost one" What laws are broken if any?

Mr Jackson enters Waterstones on Tuesday morning. He selects a book and then takes it to the sofa area. Over the course of three hours he reads it cover to cover. During this time many staff members pass him and nobody says anything. He finishes the book, leaves it where it is and then leaves the store. Any offences?
