Here goes... 2 Young lads are on the top of a multi storey car park with a blow torch and decided to heat up a £1 coin with it to an extreme heat. They toss the coin off the building onto the street below and wait for a pedestrian to come along and pick it up. Lo and behold, a pedestrian comes along not long after and thinks "oh look - a pound coin" and picks it up burning their fingers quite severely. A taxi driver has spotted 2 youths on the roof and has put 2 and 2 togther about what's happened and the police are called. Upon arrival, the police approach the youths as they are still there but no blow torch in sight and the youths are just generally loitering and say…

You have just visited a Magistrates Court in uniform for an official reason and you see a uniformed security guard using force to eject a male from the main entrance. The ejected male then tries to force his way back into the building and is restrained by two uniformed security guards. You speak to a third security guard who tells you that the male refused to be searched, was asked to leave the building and refused and was ejected as a result. You ask the guard and he says they had no specific reason to search the male other than he was inside the building. The ejected male then complains to you that the guards have assaulted him. What if any action would you take…

Just back fom Tesco with my lunch and saw the following two vehicles, how would you deal? 1. Youth'd up VW Polo in the car park with very low suspension and unfeasibly-large wheels. They extended beyond the edge of the wheel arch by about 30mm (which is probably illegal anyway) but more worryingly, the tyres were marked by what appeared to be the suspension travel letting them contact the arch. VDRS or would the fact there appeared to be a real possibility of a blowout/RTC cause you to take more immediate action? 2. Citroen AX 'crabbing' badly down the road in front of me and appeared a bit twitchy on right-hand bends. Could be the result of a poor crash repair or ev…

You are on foot patrol with another Police officer in Brixley Park when you get deployed to a call at the tea rooms where the informant states theat his dog has been stolen and the suspect is sat down enjoying a drink in the sunshine. A description of the animal is given in the text of the call and you go to invetsigate. The alledged suspect has the dog, which matches the decsription given, although the dog is not wearing an identification tag. The dog is sat happily with the suspect slurping from an ice cream tub full of water. What do you do?

Hi everyone, Please - I am not trying to be a copper or anything!, but I am one of the 'parking attendants' at my secondary school for events such as parents evenings etc. I was wondering, when a person pulls into the car park and I wished to direct that person to a parking space, and that person just carried on regardless, is there any offences committed? Or does that only apply to accredited people such as HATOs and Police officers?

Two police officers are called to a domestic disturbance late at night. A drunk, violent woman has to be removed from her ex's house after smashing it up over a family dispute. Upon removing the woman (covered in cuts to her face, arms and back from her ramage) she is relatively calm and agrees to go home however she doesnt have her house key. Officers offer to take her to relatives. She takes them on a wild goose chase and ends back up at her ex's house. They give her a stern warning and off they go again, supposedly to her dads house. Ends back up at the ex's house. Nobody wants to press charges but officers cant let her go in the area because she was intent on going ba…

let's say there is a person on crutches, who is down town and drunk and acting in a very disorderly manner. Their left foot is broken, they cannot walk on it and so use crutches. You need to nick them but they are proving very difficult. QUESTION: how would you apply the handcuffs? because if you don't handcuff them, they will keep resisting arrest. If you do arrest them, they will be unable to use their crutches and thus unable to walk. I was thinking you could physically carry them in but If there are only two of you and you would be unable to lift them safely into the back of the van, and the only available backup is a selfish and lazy regular officer who doesn't c…

The scenario - There is a quiet residential road, (30mph limit). It's getting a little dusky but not dark. In the road, near the kerb is a large puddle of rainwater. A person is walking past this puddle on the pavement when a large bus comes thundering through it, throwing up the water and absolutely soaking said person. At the time, there was no oncoming traffic. Any offences? I was thinking maybe driving without due care and consideration?

This actually happened to a friend of mine and was wondering what you all would do in the same circumstances, You are sitting in your car in one of two lines of very slow moving traffic, you are in the slow lane waiting to get to a set of traffic lights on a roundabout that are about 100 meters from you. You notice a car coming down the road within the traffic in the fast line and it reaches your point. The car is occupied with four males and the windows are down, they are driving the car erratically by speeding up when a small gap appears then slowing right down to keep level with your vehicle. The occupants come across as menacing by the way the car is being driven and…

A dog walker approaches you in the street with the following tale; While walking her dog along a public footpath the dog has managed to get into an adjoining empty field through a hole in the fence/hedge. She calls the dog and it returns immediately. She's later approached by a man who argues with her about the dog being on the field and as part of the argument states that if the dog is seen on the field again he will get his 12 bore and shoot it.

Scenario: You live in a nice newly built estate in a lovely block of flats. The domestic waste bins consist of a couple of the large bins, one is for recycling and the other is for general waste, they are shared bins (communal) between the 17 flats. A situation arises where-by the waste collection officers (bin men) refuse to empty the recycling bin because it has been found to contain food waste and used nappies. After 6 weeks of ringing the council, and after 6 weeks of rubbish accumulates in bin liners besides the bins, the council decide to send down a team to clean up the mess due to the hazard to health, they then send a bill to the flats managements company. Be…

While driving along you conduct a PNC check on a vehicle(small sports car) that has "Buy me" and a telephone number under it in the rear window. PNC shows no insurance. You stop the vehicle and speak to the driver, male early twenties, who owns the vehicle,(and is registered keeper) and ask them about their insurance. They tell you that they take out daily insurance cover for the vehicle and they took it out the day before for two days, as they only use the vehicle now and again. You ask them to produce evidence of insurance and they tell you they have it on their e mail but dont have any proof with them. They cant provide any evidence of insurance other than the insu…

You're off duty and waiting at the train station for a train home. There are many other people waiting but one would be passenger comes quickly to your attention, he is dressed in tattered, dirty and smelly clothes and wondering around the platform with a large lit spliff. The smell of cannabis is very determined and strong and you suspect that its skunk he's puffing on. Anyway, to your relief you notice the station manager and several assistants challenge him. He extinguishers his spliff and wonders around the station hiding behind benches and collumns and cajooling other passengers (in a disorderly and irratic manner). Your train turns up and you get on along with the …

Another scenario that happened to me recently... your thoughts would be apreciated as me and my colleague are still somewhat confused with the officers actions. Whilst in our unmarked vehicle travelling to our beat we noticed a moped right up our bumper, meaning if we had touched the brakes he would've flown into the back of us. I turned around (I was the passenger) so that he could see we were police and gave him a stare as if to say back off! He was having none of it and put his sun visor down on his helmet, despite it being 2100 at night! The moped then overtook us, as we were doing 30 into oncoming traffic. The vehicle travelling the opposite way had to slam his brak…
