I'm in my fiance's house and her father shouts at me from downstairs having just seen a group of teenagers removing my car aerial? I run outside but stupidly shouted at them which caused them to run and they had too much ground on me so I never got the aerial back. Fast forward and let's suppose I'm a special. I don't shout but get as close as I can and grab one of them whilst the others make off. What are the options then with regard to courses of action? Martin

here's a one that sparked my thoughts when i seen a mates photos from the 'dam. say you are a serving officer or in a job such as the transport industry which has strict Drink and Drug Abuse policy governed by law in some cases. and abuse of substances can lead to dismissal or disciplinary procedures so here we have PC Jimmy Riddle, he and the lads go for Dave's Stag do weekender in the land of Windmills and Tulips: 1) what would happen if Jimmy had smoked a few spliffs or sampled a few cakes over there, and a week, a month or so down the line was tested, where would he stand in so much the fact he did things legally, in a controlled environment, and any short ter…

Driver A is driving Driver B's car when he gets given a HORT1, and they produce their documents at the Police Station. The car Driver A is insured on with fully comprehensive insurance is in a scrap yard, but the insurance do not know this and Driver A claims they have the insurance to drive any car with third party cover (their insurance certificate states this). Is Driver A committing any offences?

In a public house, a person comes in and goes to the bar for a drink. The person is barred from the pub and is asked to leave by the landlord who walks them to the door. Just before going out, the person says that they are waiting for a lift from another family member and stops leaving then goes and stands by one of the machines, blatantly refusing to leave. they then begin taking sly gulps from a bottle of spirit. The person is not violent. Without phoning the police: A: What can be done by the pub owner (Who lives upstairs)? B: What con be done by the pub staff? (Not sure if the owner has more rights) C: What can be done by an off duty officer without putting th…

OK here goes, a scenario based on a common question... Your on mobile patrol with another special...your independent, they aren't. You have an A-B ticket for the panda. You are travelling down a country lane where you come across a fallen branch big enough to be a prominent hazard on a sharp corner although small enough for you and your colleague to move by hand. It's midnight on a Saturday and all other units are occupied - even your skipper. Do you take it upon yourself to activate stationary blue lights whilst you and your colleague lift the branch off the road knowing you are not 'supposed' to activate your blue lights but also knowing that not doing this could be a…

Well then, heres the Scenario! Off duty, your own vehicle on your own. You are driving off of a slip from a dual carriageway and the road turns to 30 shortly before a mini roundabout with a left exit and a straight exit (a painted mini roundabout slightly raised), so your easing off from around 40 on the slip to 30 and then a little more to check the roundabout (of course you dont have any traffic from the right only that from straight) you see it is clear there is no car approaching from the front for the entire stretch of the road (approx half mile) so continue your speed that has now dropped to just below 30 to go through the roundabout. As you reach the roundabout …

I'm on foot patrol and have made the decision (with reasonable grounds) to stop and search a lad I come across in the street. Only problem is the lad has with him a large, potentially violent and intimidating dog. The dog looks fierce but is not growling or baring its teeth. First question is, with officer safety in mind, what is the procedure for going about the search in as safe a way as possible, minimising the risk from the dog? And secondly, if the dog starts kicking off - barking, growling, making as if to bite, generally turning into an all round vicious beast - what's the procedure for dealing with the dog now to ensure that the search can take place? Can't fi…

I was thinking today, lets say your in the middle of somewhere and there happens to be somone who is in pain in there vehicle and cant drive on and needs help fast but your phones battery has ran out and the person in question doesnt have his/her phone. There isnt any other car, shop or anyone that can help nearby and you do not have insurance but you do have a licence or do know how to drive. Would it be an offence to drive to the nearest help point, this can be somewhere public or a hospital. I know its abit of a extreme imagination but any offences?

This just popped into my head yesterday. 1. You are off duty, or a civilian (not in the force) and driving your vehicle. A group of youths or adults, not drunk or under influence of controlled substances decide to mess about in the middle of the road, obstructing you from going further. What offences, if any, have been committed? Then the same for: 2A. On duty Police officers - Marked car 2B. On duty Police officers - unmarked car

Hello everyone. Just a thought. If an institution, lets call it X, consists of numerous car parks and buildings on private property and X employs a small army of security personnel to protect said development. These personnel have been instructed by X to go around enforcing X's rules on car parking and also on tax discs and road worthiness of vehicles parked in X's carparks. Now this all seems fine, however these personnel have been instructed to stick A4 sized stickers to the drivers door window of any cars which fail to meet these rules. The problem, and therefore the question, I would like to ask about this is what would your opinion be of this since with these …
