I'm just curious to the outcome... We're driving along, run a PNC check on a vehicle and find out that it doesn't have any insurance. After pulling the vehicle it appears that the owner of the vehicle doesn't have any insurance yet the person driving the car has fully comprehensive insurance on his car which he can drive other vehicles. Is he still in the right or does there need to be insurance on the vehicle for him to be able to drive the vehicle?

Hey ladies and well the other lot here's a bit of a question for you, you get a call to the local 24HR supermarket informing you the manager has been sprayed with CS and the float he was taking to the office snatched when you arrive you find 3 guys in the back office taking a "statement" from the clearly confused manager, it turns out they are a robbery response team from the contract security firm when you ask them to step outside so you can do your statements, they comply but in the managers confusion he hasn't seen there SIA licences (clearly displayed) and has assumed they are CID/robbery squad sorry for the long winded Scenario but here's my question, even…

So it's your first day as a Special and your walking to your local station (about a 10 minute walk) to start your first shift. You are in uniform but have no CS, baton or radio and you realize you've left your mobile phone at home (is this an ominous sign!?). Ahead of you, you see three males, one grabbing a teenage girl by the arm and shaking her, claiming that she had cheated on his mate, the other two are standing just behind also shouting. The girl is obviously distressed and seeing you coming she shouts at you for help. The two males make no sign of moving and do not seem concerned by the presence of a police officer. I'm not a Special but the thought came to me thi…

X has Y sell their car on their behalf. Y hands the car to Z, not knowing them well, however, knowing a contact number for them and their address. Z promises Y that they'll sell the car and bring them cash the following week. Deadline passes, Z makes no contact, doesn't bring back either the car or the cash and Z is also no longer answering his phone. X and Y are afraid of going around Zs address and confronting them out of fear of violence. All of this went on with Xs consent. --- My opinion? Civil until Z continues to not reply and more days pass to evidence permanently deprieve for theft to be complete.

This is a true story from the 80's when we had single blue lights on the panda cars. One officer on a rural beat doubled as a 'bouncer' on his days off at a nightclub in the middle of nowhere in a neighbouring force area. He was 6'.11'' (7'.4" with his helmet on). One night he was on patrol on night duty when he decided to cross the border and see what was going on at the club. He parked his vehicle around the back and went inside to see the manager, when he returned to his panda the blue light had been stolen. If you were him what would you do? After a few posts I'll fill you in on what HE did next.

I was watching Neg Dupree do a spot of " " (warning video does contain a little strong language in parts)and the idea is, run from security, without actually stealing. was wondering, what if any are the offences? as no theft has taken place, nor damages. strange one, that i was trying to work out. on a side note, it's rather amusing to watch Neg.

What ho everyone! The other day we did the police code of conduct, one of the criteria being that you should always challenge wrongful behaviour from your colleagues. This got me thinking about quite a few things, like what would I do if I was ever faced with that? Someone gave an example of when they were a probationer and were on patrol with a sergeant when they pulled over a drink driver.. Who also happened to be another police sergeant. The sergeant they was with took him out of his car, confiscated his keys and drove him home, giving him an earful about how stupid he had been and did nothing more about it. Now, they told me that if it was ever discovered this is …

So you are a PCSO believe it or not and are on patrol in a certain area and there are not so many people around and no police officers present either. Some nutter or thug comes up to you with a knife and points it at you, at this moment what could you do? You have body armour but this only protects half of your body (better than nothing though) You have a police radio but by the time backup arrives (its a split second thing when being stabbed) Possibly a maglite torch?? depends on the force, to wack the person with. What can you do, ive always wondered how PCSO 's protect themselves and deal with trouble when there are no police officers around. Then again there is t…

OK, let's sat you are at an RTC, or a building on fire or any similar situation. You may get a crowd around the scene, and there may be good intentioned people trying to help. But if it's clear that it is too dangerous for them to help or you can see that they are going to be more of a hindrance and they don't take the verbal hint to back out of the way, what do you do next & what powers/legislation would they use. Let's say they are being polite and not threatening or swearing to get rid of those routes for dealing. If other services are on scene you have the Emergency Workers (Obstruction) Act 2006 & there is always obstructing a police officer, but can anyo…

Billy, the local burglar, has cased a house out recently and knows that the householders of number 99 The Crescent leave a spare set of front door keys on a hook just by the front door. Billy drives up to 99 the crescent in his van - disguised as a removal van - but really for his ill-gotten gains. He picks up a stick from the garden in order to hook off the house keys to gain entry to the house so that he may get in an steal property. He successfully hooks the keys and gets them out of the open window next to the door (discarding his stick), but as soon as he gets the keys in his hand Mr Plod - the local bobby who is always on the beat locally and knows Billy to be a …

The scenario is something I have witnessed several times, and I have been unsure of whether it is legal. A person has been asked to leave a music festival (i.e. Glastonbury or Reading etc) usually for fly pitching etc (selling unauthorised T Shirts etc) 1) The person has agreed to leave and has had the unauthorised goods seized by security...is this legal for them to do so? 2) The person has agreed to leave and security have also seized there money (presumed takings from goods) is this legal? 3) The person has agreed to walk off site but security insist that they leave in a secure caged van and insist they can force them into van if they don't go willing…

I actually almost posted this last night, however i was pretty drunk It's about 12.30-1.00am, In a nightclub, although you have been drinking, your not tipsy in the slightest (I actually stopped and had some water and a kebab before i entered the club, and had 3Cans x 4.0% Over 3 Hours.) Your dying for a pee, and go downstairs to an isolated area, you don't even notice anyone is in the toilets with you. Just as your about to relieve yourself, 2 Bouncers storm in. And a stand off between 3 men and 2 bouncers begins. During this time, you learn that 1. These people are accused of doing a drug deal. They aren't massive, but they aren't weak at all. 2. The Bouncers want…

A local supermarket closes at 4pm, the manager closes the doors (the store uses the same door as an enterance and exit) and opens it to let the customers who are still inside out once they have made purchase. the manager tries to keep the doors closed as much as possible, only opening them to let the customers out. A few people try to enter the store after this time and are told by the manager the store is closed. Whilst letting a customer out ,(opening the door)another man tries to walk in the store. The manager clearly tells him the store is closed, however the man walks to the side of the manager and tries to go past him. The manager puts out his hand to stop him ent…

Firstly, hello folks. this is my first topic posting so apologies if it has already been covered but i have had a look and couldn't find anything. Secondly, what an awesome site. I've recently passed my medical to join the Met (hopefully get through the vetting) and am really looking forward to learning lots of new skills and helping out the community. Aaaanyway. So you're on your travels about town, city, village, wherever on public transport and you over hear a local youth (deemed local by the dialect) arranging a drug deal. Sounds like he's going to pick some up rather than distribute but nevertheless you are certain that it's going to happen in a matter of minutes…
