You get on the bus, and there's a group of youths one of whom is playing music on a mobile phone through the loudspeaker so everyone on the whole bus can hear it. It is obvious from the reactions of members of the public that they are annoyed by this. What offences, if any, are there? Breach of peace? Sec 5?

In the early hours of a Sunday morning a MOP calls in to say that out of her bedroom window their is a poorly lit public car park and she can see a car close to a male on the floor surrounded by 4 other males all kicking him. When you arrive obviously thinking that the male on the floor needs urgent help the 4 males stop kicking the male on the floor and he gets up without any obvious injuries. The man that appeared to being assaulted says "its ok officer I asked them to do it", and goes on to say that he enjoys being kicked about as he has a shoe/boot fetish and it transpires that the 4 lads that were kicking him all just did it for a free lift home after a night out.…

It's 3:30 am on a Monday morning and your out on patrol in a van in a small town with 1 other collegue, a fellow officer on the other side of town has stopped a vehicle to do a check on it suddenly presses her red button because the 2 males in the vehicle she has stopped have turned on her. Because its short staffed you are the ONLY unit to her to help but are about 3 mile away. You start to make your way their when with just about 1 mile to go you turn a corner and there's a vehicle in the middle of the road and it's becomes aparant that its a ram raid in progress! So you are just under a mile away from getting to your collegue who needs help and its so short staffed…

I was watching Road Wars a few nights ago when police were called to deal with some lads with cars who were up to no good in a multi-storey car park. The whole clip left me feeling a little uneasy, but there was one exchange that I thought was very unprofessional. It went something like this: Youth: You're a ginger twit PC: You're a spotty twit Youth: I'd rather be spotty than ginger. Fork off copper. PC: You're nicked There may have been more to it, but basically the PC took the bait, squared up to the youth and swore at him (in response to being abused, but still clearly intending to wind him up) - just seconds before arresting him for S5. How would things ha…

Your off duty and driving along on a lovely Monday afternoon when a boy racer driver past you on a narrow country road and the passenger throws an egg out of the vehicle at your car? What action would you take? Can you give a sec 59 to the driver or would you need to establish who the passenger was and report for summons?

You are called to reports of a group of Asian males fighting a group of White males. Upon arrival, it is clear there has been a disturbance, but it is not ongoing. There are two males slightly injured from each group, both now being seen to by paramedics. Both parties are seperated and there are enough police officers at the scene to control the situation. Ten minutes later, whilst taking details from a member of the Asian community, a speeding car screeches to a halt, narrowly missing you by a couple of inches, and an Asian male (who has obviously been told of the disturbance) jumps out shouting; "Where are they?! I'll stab them!! I'll stab them!!". What would your im…

    1. If a mother has been arrested, but she states that her children need to be either, looked after, picked up, cared for, im assuming that she has the right to call people/contact people to sort out care for the children. But what happens if no care can be found for the children.. All the mother has to say is that no-one is available to care for them, does that mean that an interview is either short-cut/doesnt happen or re-convened at an appropriate time? Is this an example that you'd take the details of the person and not make an arrest/detain? 2. I once said this before, but how does Detaining work? I thought that if someone wasn't under arrest they couldn't be kept …

You are an off duty police officer and have been on a night out with friends and have had a lot to drink. It is now 3am and you're picked up by your sober other half who is driving you home... Half way home the vehicle you are a passenger in is pulled over by police. Both you are your partner alight the vehicle. God knows how it happens, but somehow, the officers starts the roadside breath test procedure on you! Initially you think he is joking. He's deadly serious. You protest saying you are the passenger and was not driving. The officer continues regardless. Do you; (a) Provide a roadside sample? or (b) Fail to provide? Either way, you end up getting arrested eith…

Its a busy Friday Night in a busy Town Centre, You are on Foot Patrol when you come accross a group of 10 youths in a park area and you smell what you believe to cannabis so you decide to search them all under the misuse of drugs act. You find a small amount of cannabis on 7 of the youths (5 of which are aged between 14&16 and 2 of which are aged 18). What do you do? Arrest them under suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance? (This is a Friday Night and Custody is pretty full!) What else could you do? The 2 18 year olds already have cannabis warnings and new ACPO guidelines only allow a person to recieve one warning, one of the 18 year has also bee…

An employer suspects items have been stolen from his store. He can narrow it down to a period of 6 months. The person he suspects of taking the stuff has since left his employment. He shows us a stock list with lots of items missing. He shows us a printout of items the suspect has sold online in the same period of time. Some of the suspect's items are similar to items missing. Employer has a prepared statement stating when suspect worked there, his responsibilities while there, and times he broke store policy. There is also a prepared statement from one member of staff stating the suspect sent him home early once, leaving only the suspect in store alone! We take the s…

As more people become infected its only a matter of time before tou get people who refuse to Quarantine themselves - can they be stopped (if there is any point in stopping them!)? With current laws i dont think they can be.
