If a pedestrain causes an accident on the road how are they dealt with and are any offences committed? Also, if a pedestrian deliberately causes an accident? The reason I ask was I was watching Real Rescues and there was an incident where a man accidently walked in front of a car because he was not looking. The car had a damaged windscreen. Since this is the pedestrian's fault how is the insurance dealt? Another scenario is a jogger knocking down an elderly person and causing injury. How would that jogger be dealt with?

Not sure if this is best for here or the Parade room? But lets say your an officer who is on a undercover operation. How far would you go to see the operation out? Say you are involved in a deep drug sting for several months. Hanging out with big time drug users and dealers who have come to trust you as one of them, they offer you some drugs do you keep turning it down each time you are offered because you are a police officer or do you try to fit in because it is your job to bring them down no matter what? What if you are with some real bad people and they shoot someone in front of you do you act like its ok, because if you don't they may find out and shoot you. Jus…

Ok, this happened yesterday whilst going to the petrol station. During my journey I had hit some slow traffic only to find out that it was for a number of vehicles and a horse and carraige carrying a coffin. Naturally other drivers slowed down behind the coffin to pay there respects. There where about 12 cars in front of me so as you can imagine the road was a busy one. Whilst in the slow moving traffic more cars joined the queue, I was looking in my rear view mirror as you do and I could see an elderly gentleman driving a Nissan Micra come up behind me. From looking at his driving style it was obvious that he was not happy with being sat in the traffic. Since the r…

Hi folks, new here so this is my first post. My question..Lets say a policeman/special arrives at a scene to find an irritated man arguing with another, initially it doesnt seem like any offence has already been committed and the officer tries to diffuse the situation. As one man walks away he shouts "you f***ing pr**k". Would this be enough for Sect 5? Alteratively if he had used the word 'black' making it racist, what offence would that then change it too? Thanks all :D

After reading another thread it left me with the question is swearing generally accepted in court, obviously i dont mean profaneties thrown at the judges or officers of the court but more to do with reading back witness statments or refering to notes made at the time of an arrest or incedent happening. After all during an arrest or indeed speaking to a victim of crime shortly after a burgulary for example i could see tempers being heated and profanties being used and during the court procedure would these be repeated to give a true account of what happened ? This interests me personally for two reasons first of all i work in security and although i have never had to go …

As per the title, I observed this small incident this afternoon, and i'm interested to know how officers on here would have dealt with it if it were witnessed on duty. As I was driving down the road, there was an elderly asian man with a walking stick in each hand making his way along the footpath. Making their way along the path towards him were 2 white males, approx late teens, one of them riding a bmx, and holding what appeared to be a water pistol. The object was gun shaped, but had an obvious "toy" appearance, and was various bright colours. As the pair passed the elderly man, the male on the bike pointed the toy at the gentlemans head, and although I couldn't hear …

We had this as one of our roleplays in training. Parents inform police that theres a man in the park just sitting there watching kids play. He has no kids himself. Says hes doing nothing wrong and doesnt leave. We debated between Sec 5/BoP but didnt come to a conclusion. My suggestion was as it was a public park, we could act on behalf of the council and take away the implied consent of use to the male and ask him to leave. Thoughts?

Is it illegal to drive a de-restricted moped (that travels 40mph) with a cbt licence at age 16. People have told me it is but i just wanted to check. Now for a hypothetical situation. If i was driving my moped down the road at 30mph, but the police decided to stop me for a random check, what would they do if they found out that my moped was derestricted, but i had not been speeding, and the moped was taxed, mot'd and insured. What action would they take and what punishment would they give me? Thanks.

Here is a little scenario which I'd be interested to see your responses to. I'm not a police officer so please excuse any obvious mistakes in terminology or procedure. You are on patrol alone in your vehicle in a medium sized town when you are directed to a nearby playpark where a woman has complained of harrassment by her ex-husband, who has made threats towards her on previous occasions and has a restraining order against him. The playpark is a fenced area of approx. 20x20m situated in one corner of a large open park. A road runs alongside the park and there ia a row of houses on the opposite side of the road facing the park. When you arrive at the playpark you notice…

Hey! Basically I know I will find myself in this situation and would like to know what other, more experienced, officers would do in the same situation. I work in a resturant and there is a well known guest who often visits the bar and will remain there for a good few hours drinking glass after glass of wine, he often purchases bottles as it's cheaper, however cost isn't a factor for him as he is not short of a few bob. Anyway, once he's had enough he will jump into his car and drive a good 15 miles home. I know he is over the limit, what should I do? Note, I'm a special in training at the moment and have not been attested. I have spoken to the barman who says that the…

You're called to a report of 20 youths with golf clubs at a railway station. When you arrive, the youths scatter and both you and your partner pursue two of the individuals. You both end up separated and you tackle a suspect to the ground and get the cuffs on. As you head back to your police vehicle your partner point to points you asking for assistance. Can you leave your cuffed suspect in the police vehicle? (I'm thinking no) and what if you're partner needed urgent assistance and you have your prisoner to deal with? Martin

Hello all, I will hopefully be starting my training as a special within the next month. Now I'm curious, I read on this forum that if you see a dog kept in a car in summer with it's windows closed then it's your duty to find the owner etc etc, now I was in tesco the other day, and I saw a dog in a car with it's windows closed, would you have to go through the process of locating the owner, as i'm assuming that if you open the windows in winter the poor dog will get cold. So what would you do? This may be the dumbest question you've heard but i'm very intrigued by it. thanks.

If she was on walkabout, went loopy and assaulted a member of public. As all police forces pledge allegiance to her would normal arrest & charge protocols apply or is she immune from prosecution ?

You are out on patrol, and as you turn a corner you spot a person holding a large kitchen knife (it appears to be much longer than 3") who is shouting and swearing at another person while brandishing the knife at them. Before the suspect see's you, they punch the victim in the face, causing injuries which amount to a sec.47. You approach the person, restrain and arrest them. But what do you arrest for? There are several offences apparent from the above - possession of a point or blade, section 4 poa, and ABH. "You are under arrest for ________, you do not have to say anything...." Fill in the gap :D
