Hmm, heres one. Typical off duty lar-dee-dar - 1) Mother and child (Should be on baby/booster seat) live local to grandparents within a few roads. Mother is transporting said child on her lap (seatbelt around the child/not seat belted - not that this would make any difference) to transport child to grandparents. They must access side roads to transport. 1) Words of advice (you live local to the mother) 2) leave it be 3) Make a pnb and follow up when on duty Tried searching, but couldn't find anything of the sort (maybe just me and the search function having a divorce I think)

Just watched 'Road Wars' chap asleep in a car obviously drunk - by his own admission. However, crashed out on back seat and keys in his pocket. Any offence? Prob not drink drive as can't be proven. Anything else?

What would happen if say for example I resigned tomorrow but in 6 months time I get called to go give evidence in Crown Court for someone I arrested last week? Would I still be expected to wear my uniform and give evidence as if I was still an officer even though I would not hold the office of Constable anymore? Just a thought thats all if anyone knows the answer?

You are off duty. You pull into a Petrol Station just after midnight. You fill your car up and start to walk in to pay. Before entering, you can see that there is an argument happening between the shopping assistant and 2 men. You have no idea on what scale the argument is, but you can just tell by the shopping assistants face that he is not comfortable. You think that the men might be drunk. What do you do?

As a scenario; A youth outside of a nightclub is trying to persuade the doormen to let him in the club, hes been thrown out for one reason or another. The subject is abit worse for wear but at the present time he is not acting aggressively or offensively. The doorman decide they have had enough and decide to physically remove him from the entrance of the club. In doing so, the youth becomes more aggressive and starts hurling abuse at the doorman, this all infront of you and your collegues. You go over to the youth and try to move him on but his swearing becomes more persistant and you issue a verbal warning for a public order offence. He swears again and your collegues d…

You are on duty on a Friday night in a town centre, at about 11pm. You are told that CCTV has seen a male punching another male. You attend the scene and are met by a male with a bloody nose. He is calm but very drunk. He tells you that he has been punched in the face by a taxi driver, and he wants him arrested. You speak to CCTV who confirm they have footage of the drunk male being punched in the face by a taxi driver. The taxi driver returns to the scene and you speak to him. He says that the drunk male tried to get into his cab, but he refused to take him because he was so drunk. The male then leant through the cab window and started hitting the taxi driver. T…

You have worked as a special for several years and have got to know most young people in your area (nominals and non-offenders). You bump into one of the consistent offenders on duty (not that it's relevant), and he states that since you have known him for several years (albeit professionally), he asks you to be a countersigning officer on his passport application - being a policeman and all that. Let's assume we are allowed to sign such applications as an SC (i dont want to get into that can or can't we arguement) - would you personally be happy to sign this stating you have known this person for the number of years required? Or, does anyone know anything in the law wh…

Just a quick scenario based on a recent incident here in Wales:- Mavis takes her yorkie terrier up the park for a walk on a lead. A pitbull terrier unleashed sees the dog from a distance and starts to run towards her. The owner of the pitbull is calling it back but it doesn't pay any attention. The pitbull arrives at Mavis and starts to attack the yorkie. Mavis starts hitting the pitbull with her walking stick and eventually, the dog stops attacking the yorkie and appears to be in severe pain due to the stick strikes. Now, as i understand it, if a dangerous dog was attacking a human, you would beat the dog until it lets go (well i would anyway). So if a dangerous dog a…

Here's a hypothetical situation. I have my own views, but interested to see what everyone else thinks. You are on foot patrol in a local park well known for youth drinking during a force wide initiative to crack down on drinking in public. You come across a young couple having a picnic with a bottle of wine or two quite clearly on display, and drinking from them. What do you do? In a slight aside, would your actions change if you were in full view of a group of youngsters whom you had earlier confiscated alcohol from?

A pretty simple scenario that hopefully can be answered easily. So a person loses their British driving licence and searches high and low and think they may have left it somewhere but are unsure. Phones round but nothing is found anywhere. 6 months later, on buying a new bed, said person finds it on the floow down the back of the bed...how it got there is unknown. However, as person thought they had lost their original, a new one has been issued. Are they required to send one back or can they just keep it? Anything in law that means you have to return the found licence?

Sorry if already covered. You are at a friend house party sat drinking and laughing when one of your friends sparks up a joint and shares it with another. They are obviously not big dealers and only have small personal use. What would you do?

Some years back, you were friends with a person who you eventually drifted away from due to their recreational drug usage on weekend nights. You have reason to believe (from mutual friends) they never did come off the drugs although you have no hard evidence of this. So today, you are an attested constable who comes across this x-friend in the street one Saturday evening. Assuming there is nothing else to base grounds on (location/hotspots etc), do you have grounds to search under S23 MDA soley due to your prior knowledge of this person and their use of drugs some years back?

On TV the other night (think it was Brit Cops - Zero Tolerence)... A Police Officer did a stop and search on a known drug user (they were on first name terms) and he found a small bag with 5 or 6 white tablets in, looked like E's to me. The guy said that they were 'Folic Acid for his legs'. The police officer asked his colleague, they said there was a pharmaceutical stamp on them and gave them him back and let him on his way. What would you do in this situation? Also Folic acid is reccomended to pregnant women to help develop the foetus, it would do little to help an adults legs as far as i know. Thanks Gaz

A street has a one-way system in place for vehicles, but is two-way for public transport vehicles. If you enter from the public transport end (ie bus taxi etc) there is a blue sign with local bus logo, and a left-turn prohibited sign preventing you from entering the street. However, if you approach the street from the other way, can you legally do a u-turn (no prohibitive sign for u-turn) and come back along the street, as you haven't passed any signs that prevent you from doing this? There are no further signs informing you that it is a one-way street.
