MoD police 'took naps' at A-bomb site: Investigation launched into alleged security failings at nuclear weapons factory- Scores of officers from the Ministry of Defence police are under investigation for allegedly skipping vital security patrols and even taking naps while on duty at a nuclear bomb factory. As many as 50 officers are involved in the inquiry, which centres around security failures at a branch of the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Burghfield, Berkshire. There are claims that some were even sleeping on the job at the 225-acre complex, where technicians build Trident nuclear warheads. Futher information can be read by clicking the link below- http://www.d…

I managed to track down some obscure legislation and it would appear that, unlike other Parks Constabularies, Hampstead Heath Constabulary have full police powers; this would include in any City of London Open Space, whether that is Epping Forest, West Ham Park or Ashstead Common in Surrey (amongst all the other open spaces they manage). The Hampstead Heath Constabulary do not brand themselves as 'police', although it would appear that would have a legitimate right to do so. And they make clear that their priority is to deal with by laws in relation to Hampstead Heath and in no way to replace the function of the Metropolitan Police, whom they have a very good relationsh…

I'm sure I'm not the only one looking at applying for MDP and I'm sure I'm not the only one scouting the web for more info on the service. I was wondering if any serving MDP or anyone in regular contact could give us insight into an average days, likelihood and timescale of progression/ specialisation/transfers. Is it really as soul destroying as some say or are they just typical ignorant bashers? Is it 90% patrol/gates for most officers? Do you actually get treated like poo by everyone else? And most importantly can you get some kip on nights? (I joke, but do you?) Cheers in advance

Just out of curiosity : The British Waterways Board used to maintain a Patrol Unit with some enforcement powers. Does anyone know what happened to them now British Waterways has been replaced by the Canal and River Trust ?

Hi Are there any serving MOD officers that would be able to tell me what the take home monthly pay is at the 4 year mark. I am seriously considering transferring for various reasons and the money issue worries me as i have heard its less. Also do reading officers get some form of south allowance. Many thanks, a PM would be good if people are not comfortable posting pay. I have tried contacting HR and didnt get the answers i wanted.

It seem's London parks police will be no more after councils are looking at taking up the BOGOF from the Mayor of London. For every Officer the Council pays for the Mayor will give one free due to a 42 million pound reserve he has, I feel the parks will suffer as the MPS will not patrol parks correctly.

http://www.cathedralconstables.co.uk/index.html I thought this link may be of interest to some on here, another example of organisations that employ a small number of constables in a tradition that predates the modern police service.

I'm thinking about applying to no3 police squadron at RAF Henlow in a few months. The RAF was what I wanted to do before I joined the specials, got distracted and eventually joined the cops? Does anyone have any experience of the application process, day to day life, training days, travel to the sqn or anything else about the reserves in general?

Hi, I'm interested in joining the RMP and I've a few questions and thought this would be easier than going to my local AFRO and when I say local I use it vaguely.. Although they are promoted to LCPL ad earn a level pay 5 scale (22k) I believe or around that area is this before all acc, tax, food etc or after? is it worth all the hassle? What exactly do you do?'i don't wanna be investigating someone's stolen beret even though ill have to start off in areas similar? I'm thinking of specialising as a bodyguard in it as this is the main reason I'm choosing it, much combat in the bodyguard section?(hoping a yes) Will I live on a strictly rmp barracks or mixed ie engine…
