Hi everyone! I have been invited to an "Information Evening" after applying for a Special Constabulary position and would like to ask a few questions: Has anyone had any experience with an "Information Evening"? How many applicants (do you think) are rejected between applying and this pre-assessment stage? DO THE POLICE VIEW FACIAL HAIR A NO-NO, OR ARE THEY LENIENT??!!? Anyone here going? I have heard they can randomly select people 'out of a hat' to reject from the course to make it "fair"; is this true? Thanks in advance; I-99

Hi All, I recently received notification that I have passed the paper stage with Surrey and now just have the SEARCH centre left to go. I was given a link to the COP guidance documents for centres after August 2015. The way I always understood it was that you were asked 4 questions about situations you have dealt with in the past however from the college of policing website (http://recruit.college.police.uk/Officer/after-I-apply/Documents/SEARCH_Information_for_candidates_012v1_0.pdf) it now seems as though two of those have been dropped in favour of motivational/value questions which is radically different to when I went through as a special 4 years ago. The exa…

Hey guys, It's been a long time since I posted on here! My story is that I was set to join the Met but after waiting 9 months with little to no progress after my day 2, I transferred my application over to Surrey Police, I completed my fitness test and Biometric tests on wednesday, so now I'll be vetted and have reference checks over the next few months, with an estimated start date of early next year (Hopefully). Anyway, I thought I'd start a new topic since there aren't really any recent ones about Surrey police and I'm having a boring Saturday morning haha. So, I'd just like to ask a few questions to anyone who works in Surrey, Has worked in Surrey, lives in Surrey, …

Hi there, Firstly I appreciate this is a Specials Forum, but I'm struggling to find an answer to my probably quite niche question. Is anyone able to advise me on how new PCs in Surrey police are assigned to stations/divisions? I assume it's decided based on force requirements, but do Surrey take into account any input or preference as to where an applicant/new recruit may wish to serve? Taking into account community/area knowledge that may prove useful in the field. Obviously I appreciate that too close a proximity to your home address is a risk, and Surrey isn't exactly huge, but is there a means of avoiding being designated somewhere right on the other side of the cou…

It's coming up on 4 months now and I still haven't gotten any word on my application. I rang up Surrey recruitment some time ago and was informed all applications were on hold while they re-evaluated and updated their recruitment process. The person who I spoke to said she had no idea how long it would take. Is there anyone here on the inside who has more information, or someone who has received a response to their application to Surrey yet? Thanks

I sent my application to Surrey Police on February 25th and I still haven't heard back. All I have is an email from March 4th stating that my application has been received. I know this process can take some time but my impression is that most people don't have to wait this long. Should I ring them or is it worth just waiting a bit more?

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place but I wasn't sure where to put this! I have an assessment day coming up for the above role at Mt. Browne, and I just wondered if anyone knew how to prepare for it? I'm really nervous, particularly about the telephone role play. If anyone has any pointers I'd really appreciate it!

Hi folks, Just wondering if anyone has applied in the latest SC vacancies being advertised? Those on the inside, do we know how many Surrey are looking to take on? Thanks! W

I am looking to rejoin the police to Surrey, I was previously Sussex. The options are Response or Neighbourhood Specialist Officer. What are the current shift patterns for the NSO role? This is the only one I can apply for as the Response officer vacancy requires you to be response driver trained which I am not. Any info on this role much appreciated as it sounds different from anything we had in Sussex. Thanks
