So that time of year is almost upon us, I was just wondering if anyone has worked it before and what part specials usually play.

Hi all, A huge gap in my PAC forms seem to relate to traffic incidents as I have hardly ever had the chance to attend being on an NPT. Is it possible to contact a traffic officer/sergeant to request a few duties with the traffic unit to help me fill these gaps and also to broaden my experience of the job? Cheers

Hi I applied for the NorPol Specials around 4 weeks ago but haven't heard anything since. I was just wondering how long it generally takes from application stage to hearing whether you've been successful at application stage and then interview dates from there, etc? I'm not sure whether to give HR a call or to just play the waiting game... I'm guessing that my application will have no chance of being considered for January from the other posts I've read. Cheers

So I received my official appointment as a special today and will be starting training next week. I have a few questions thought you guys might be able to help. On the email it says I've been posted to Sunderland AC at my choice of station, I was wondering is this set in stone or can it be changed as I'd much rather Newcastle AC. It also says that the training will take place at cobalt park offices, can someone clarify if this is separate to north Tyneside AC. Cheers guys

Hey all, Just passed my interview this morning at Middle Engine Lane. I'm looking forward to getting started on training in Jan '15 hopefully. Anyone know what the normal timescales for the medical, fitness, and vetting are? Thanks

Quite excited that I have been invited to an interview, but obviously nervous at the same time haha. I see a lot of people have passed their interview for northumbria and just wanting any advice from people who have had the interview and passed! Any help appreciated lads and lasses

Finally passed my interview last Friday over at Etal Lane. Apparently training will start in January 2015, just wondering if anyone else had passed the interview and was starting same time? Cheers J

Hi I applied last year for SC and attended an interview @ Northumbria area Command but failed interview, I'm ready to re-apply, I noticed there's only 2 questions on the application. Is there any other change?.

I was wondering if some could clarify a few things for me. 1) Does everyone have a medical, or does it depend on what you put on your medical form? 2) When do you get told about the station you will be based? 3) When do you get measured up etc for uniform? 4) The e-mail I got about training told me that we get sworn in as specials before the 3rd weekend of training. Is this likely to be true, or do you think it's a typo?

Does anyone know when Norpol will be planning to recruit for PC next. Originally from Newcastle but living in Lincolnshire. Do not want to join Lincs. Thanks in advance

Well I've officially been with my shift one week tonight, I've been on 2 half nights (17:00 - 03:00) and 3 day shifts. Loved every minute so far. My shift are great and I can't speak for other shifts or AC's but I've really been made to feel a part of the team. I've had my first arrest aswell as a few other big jobs. So to any new specials who are worried about how specials are treat in norpol I can safely say you don't need to panic.

Bit of a random one...how easy is it to get a new pair of trousers? Is it a question of phoning up stores and getting an appointment, or will it need authorisation? Cheers guys

I was just wondering if anyone can give me any info on A1. I have my last weekend of training this weekend and will be starting there soon. Was hoping to find out where I can get parked, what I can expect from the average shift and just any other info you can give me . Be gratefull for any info cheers guys.

Dear all, Not sure if anyone can shed any light on this, but I have this morning received a rather cryptic text message purporting to be from a service "PNN-SMS". Given the format of our force email addresses I immediately assumed this be to do with the force. I won't go into detail about the message itself only that it was short, seemed to be about a search and gave a date and time, as well as a local phone number. There was no information about who it was from or what it was actually about. I have emailed the customer service mailbox to see if they can look into it, has anyone had any experience of this at all? Cheers
