Afternoon everyone, I'm pretty new to the forums, although I have been viewing them since I last applied to be a Special Constable in February. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful at paper sift so here I am applying again I was just wondering what the vetting checks consist of - obviously as part of recruitment (providing you pass paper sift), your immediate family members will have a check done and as far as I'm aware, they have nothing against them (the Police have been called out when my brother and Dad were arguing but nothing was escalated - hopefully this doesn't count against me, I don't know how strict they are). It may be worth mentioning that I have SC clearance…

I've heard whispers over some months that NorPol might be reinstating the rank structure for specials i.e. SC, S/Sgt, S/Insp etc that they once used, as most other forces do. Has anyone else heard this and what are your thoughts if true?

I applied to be a SC back in March. My application finally went from accepted to under review around a week or two ago. Does anyone know how long this stage typically lasts?

Hi, I applied for the regs in December 2014, anyone any idea how long the recruitment process takes? not heard anything yet so i guess they are still looking or waiting for more applicants.

As the title states, what are your opinions on tattoos with in the police? I sent my application off a few weeks ago and disclosed that i did have tattoos on my forearms. I also have a small number 8 on the inside of my wedding ring finger. I a just worried that it will be an automatic refusal. I am in the process of getting it removed via laser but it can take up to 6 months for the full course. Here is a picture of the finger for reference. Thanks for any responses.

Hi everyone, I found out yesterday that I passed the assessment centre for the role of a PC in Northumbria with a score of 66%. I've now got to attend a final interview on Wednesday and I'm looking for some general advice on what to expect and how to prepare. I've never sat a final interview before so not sure what to expect. Does each force's final interview differ in format or are they all relatively the same? I've read that you get asked 12 questions on 4 different areas, can anyone confirm this? I've tried doing some research on the force but there is obviously tons of information, does anyone have any advice on which areas to focus on in particular? If anyone can …

Hey everyone. I recently decided to apply to become an SO as i now have the time to do so, and as i am ex military, i miss the day to day challenge. Instead of the TA however, i decided to join as a SO with the aim of joining as a full time PC in the future as this has been my aim since leaving the Army. However, i do have a few questions that i hope some of you would be kind enough to answer. 1) If successful, i would like to be based from Marketstreet or Byker stations. Hi all, As a result of my new job, I haven't been able to find the time to do a proper shift since the area command change and the move of 24/7 cops to Forth Banks. If anyone can PM me the emails for the Gateshead shift Sergeants and anything about getting your gas and radio before a shift I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could shed any light on how soon before training started did you get word back from vetting? I emailed and enquired but they said they still had not received the forms back from their Professional Standards Department. I'm scheduled to start training on Saturday 4th October and am just worried I won't receive it in time and end up on the January intake. Thanks in advance...

Just wondering what happens after fitness? Do you then go and collect your uniform? I am starting on the May training and looking at getting posted in Northumberland. So my 1st question is; Does anyone know what it is like to be a SC in Northumberland (Heard it can vary between AC) 2; Do you get you uniform in one day or are you measured for it and collect it when it has been ordered etc? Hi all, I'm having real difficulties getting a response from anybody in regards to getting a copy of the shift patterns for gateshead npt and 24/7. I've emailed sergeants, resource managers and fru with zero reply, meaning I cannot sign onto shifts as I have no idea who is on and when. If anyone here can send me a copy of both, or point me in the right direction on how to get them it would be greatly appreciated.
