Hi, I have applied to join the specials with Northumbria Police. I have been given an interview for June 15th. However, I am 18. I was wondering if this will put me at a disadvantage because of my lack of 'life experience' etc... Anybody have any thoughts about this? Thanks J

Hi all, I sent my application off to Northumbria Police about 4 weeks ago. Does anyone know how long it takes before they get back to you regarding an interview? I have heard it can be as little as 6 weeks and as long as 6 months. Has anyone applied recently and got an interview? Also if I do become a special, where should I police? I leave in Sunderland by the way. Thanks J

Also does anyone know the recruitment process for specials. I.E are Assesment Centres on the same day as Interviews? Thanks

Good morning all, My name is Graeme, 29, and have been browsing these forums for around 6 months off and on. It has been a long-term ambition of mine to be a member of the Police Force, in some capacity or other. I have a great deal of admiration and respect for the work the the Police do and feel I would enjoy the challenges. Finally I found the route I wanted to take and applied as a Police Detention Officer! I sent off my application on Tuesday so here's hoping I hear some good news. Then...today I found that Northumbria have just opened up applications for PCSO's! I am very happy with the application I have sent, I feel I am not ready for an active role such a…

Hey! Been scrolling these forums for a while now so thought it was time I signed up! Sent off my application for SC on Friday, so hopefully should hear back soon - I think the next paper sift is February sometime. These forums provided me with a fantastic tool when prepping my application, so thanks to everyone who contributes!

So here I am fresh out of training and due to start at Newcastle Market Street next week. Would anybody be able to inform me as to the types of incidents i would be attending asides fights and thefts :new_yummy: , also would I be working with the neighbourhood team or response?

I am currently going through the process of being a Special, Until i did my medical, i never knew i was colour blind. I did a test with the OHU and the doc said it wasn't severe. They are looking at making an exam as there is not one that can tell if i will be suitable for role. Does anyone in the force have colour blindness and how does it effect you and how will it effect me in the future? Thanks Callum

Hi all, Am I right in thinking that Specials can use the Metro system for free on the understanding they can present their warrant card and would step in in the event of an incident. It occurred to me the other day when I was stuck and could have used this exception although I wasn't entirely sure, does anyone know/use this for travel? Thanks.
