Hi all, As I may have mentioned I am off to get my kit next Tuesday from the stores down at Pelaw. I've since lost the phone number and am not too sure about directions. I know to get to the roundabout at the end of the Felling bypass by the Pelaw metro station but get stuck after this. Any help would be appreciated.

I am hearing rumours that Northumbria will be recruiting internally (specials and PCSO's) at the end of this year. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything else to confirm / deny that statement?

What do people think of this new format/style of training? It would seem that HQ do not care about the fact that we work and have families outside of the force, does anyone know when we are being issued with time travel machines to get to these venues? For me living out on the far west of the force area (almost Cumbria) the travel will be stupid, i don't get away from work til 6pm on a good day and it was bad enough when i had to get to A/C training for 7:30. which was a 30 mile trip, now depending on venue these trips will be 50-100% longer its mad, and all this to be a special. I can imagine the conversation with my boss............ Me " can i finish early each week…

Hi all, Over the moon I was accepted into the Specials the other week. Had me interview at Block 70 with a really nice Inspector and a lady from HR, unfortunately can't remember their names. That was on Monday 6th and I have since received an email from Emma Little who has been nominated as my main point of contact for the rest of the process. I have sent my form stating the force areas I would prefer to work from and have been told training will probably take place around April. Has anyone else been taken on at this time, and does anyone already serving know what the next stages of the process are? Cheers

Hello, I have my interview next week for a position within Northumbria Police. I am just wondering if there is any tips or advice anyone could give me to help prepare for this? Thanks Ross

I'll check the IIS next time I'm in, but do you have to have been on the training course to have used the Speed Gun (be it the SLR or equivalent) for the purpose of it going to court. ie, I know they are very simple to operate, but as far as it being used in court, could it be used in evidence if I used an SLR? I applied to Northumbria as a Police Special in the period that ended 30th November/1st december, has anyone else who applied during this heard anything back, or am I being just a little impatient wanting things like that to happen sooner than they can?

Hi all, Just a few things I wanted to clarify, I have recently received the email from recruitment inviting me to the medical test at HQ on February 6th. I have been to the HQ before for the fitness exam but wanted to know roughly where I should be heading to when I get into the grounds of the HQ. The email also stated that I have been successful at the interview/assessment stage of the application, and also that I have been invited to a pre-placement risk assessment. I haven't had any further conformation that my vetting forms have been received let alone been checked, is it safe to say that they have? Also, what can I expect to be the next stage of the process? Thanks.

Hi all, There are a few points I am unsure about relating to the filling in of my vetting forms. The only email address I have to hand is the erecruitment@northumbria.pnn.police.uk and keep getting replies that my emails are failing to go through. I think the person I need to get in contact with is Karen Heaton but don't seem to have a contact for her unless I have overloooked it. Does anyone know how best to contact HR or perhaps how to fill in the vetting forms? Thanks

I had my interview today and passed, apparently there's a course starting in May which I may get on, assuming medical/fitness/vetting goes ok! Anyone else hoping to end up on that one?

Hi all--- I got an e-mail today asking for photos of tattoos i have on right and left arms---awaiting home office approval ( nothing offensive ) I applied on the 19TH AUGUST and this is my 1ST e-mail----does this mean i have passed the paper sift part?

Hi, I've recently (as in a couple of days ago) to be a special in Northumbria. Anyone else applied? I am a bit nervous about it, baring in mind policing is everything I've wanted to do since year 8 at school. I just hope I dont get put at the same station as my uncle, who is a custody sergant in Sunderland (i think).
