Hi all. I found out today that Northumbria has started cancelling applications. Has this happened to anyone and if so at what stage were you in the recruitment process?

Hi guys, I was just browsing the forum and checked the topic "Driving in the specials" and it appears Northumbria are the only recorded force that doesn't allow it's specials to drive vans/carriers, and also one of the few forces that doesn't allow its specials to "patrol". It just made me wonder, do opportunities exist within Northumbria Police Force to get further training or access to courses as a special? I'm not too bothered either way to be honest, just surprised me a little to see on that driving chart that Northumbria seemed to allow specials less privileges than other forces.

Hi All, I am quite new to Norpol and have been on the streets for a few months now, while on duty the other night my sgt asked me to go on patrol with a CSO, due to my inexperiance I asked him if I could go with a reg, but he said I havent got one for you to work with so you will have to go with the CSO. No disrespect to the CSO's they do a good job but surely they shouldn't be taking probationers who are not IP status on patrol? Can anyone shed any light on this as i dont know and dont want to make any issues for myself with my sgt. Hi All, I would appreciate any advice on what happens with regards to transferring to Northumbria. I am currently a special in Cumbria and am have been signed off independant, would this also transfer over to Northumbria? Hi guys, Just wondered what you can claim for regarding expenses, I havn't really considered it up until this point, but I live more or less exactly 50 miles away from the force area so in order to commit to a shift I'd be travelling around 100 miles altogether. Doing this on a regular basis I can imagine getting rather costly, so I just wondered if there is a scheme in place to claim for any sort of travelling expenses? Thanks, Chris

Hi all After what must be months of having my specials applications form lying around on my desk I have finally sent it away. I was wondering what the likely waiting time would be for a reply either to say thanks but no thanks, or whether they would like to take my application further. It was posted first class on Thursday, although i do realise there might be some delay over the weekend. Any replies would be a great help. Thanks
