Hi, I'm currently a Special Constable with another force and I'm wanting to transfer to Nothumbria Police as I am planning on moving home and living with my Father in Northumberland. I have been in touch with Northumbria Police over the telephone and they have said I have to complete all the stages of recruitment again apart from the competency questions on the Application Form as I've already answered them for my current force. I've now been invited to the next stage of the recruitment process, the Fitness Test. Saw something in Newcastle City Centre the other day, when the University and Collages Union were amassed at Greys monument that alarmed me a little bit. What looked to be a store security guard, SIA badge on his arm, wearing a white shirt, black waistcoat and trousers was stood in a store entrance, The F C you K shop I think. Walking past I noticed that he had a set of cuffs and a CS holder on his belt. Is this some sort of new initiative in the city centre? I dont work in that area, so it was a bit of a shock to see a security bloke carrying that sort of stuff. Can anyone shed some light? I was speaking to my pal yesterday and we got on about the review that was started before Christmas and how it said it would take 6 weeks to do, my pal was saying that he sent an email to the person taking lead on it and guess how many special(s) were on the working group? Just also wondering how many of us were given the opportunity at a/c to get involved in these discussions, not bothered what your comments were but just want to know if you were given the chance to talk to SMT etc and be involved in something that will affect you. Has anyone had confirmation that they will be on the May 2011 intake? I received an email from recruitment stating that they are working towards me being on the May intake as long as my vetting checks come back in time. Fingers crossed!

Hi guys ! I live about 8miles outside of Newcastle, and i'm just wondering is there anything going within Northumbria at the moment? Question for you NorPol lot. Do you find that your body armor starts to create pressure points and begin to hurt after only a short period of time? After about an hour into my shift, my shoulders start to ache and I get that horrible burning sensation and my back starts to twitch and spasm. Has anyone else experienced this with the standard issue armor? Have you got any hints or tips to make it a bit more comfortable, or is it a case of speaking to oc. health?

Did anyone attend the regional conference on Saturday? How were people selected to go? Any gossip?
