http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-11677716 A new £27m police station is about to open on North Tyneside. The building, on Middle Engine Lane, Wallsend, will be the base for up to 300 officers and staff and has a custody suite consisting of 40 cells. It is the first new station to be built by Northumbria Police Authority for Northumbria Police in 10 years. Stretching over three floors, the building features a glazed concourse, open-plan offices and environmentally-friendly heating. Work began on the site in April 2009, with staff due to move in on 8 November. Mick Henry, who chairs Northumbria Police Authority, said: "Part of our role is to provide the res…

I understand it is possible for people to get into the force with minor or certain offences on your own personal records, what I have noticed though on my application form it asks specifically for the details inc. dates of the offence(s) How would I find this information out? I can't get a CRB check done unless it is done through the employer but need this information to proceed with the application, if anyone happens to know how and where I can get this information please let me know! Cheers all, Chris

Im due to start in a few weeks and was just wondering if anyone (possibly someone who has recently started) can help me with a small query. I'm aware that in Northumbria Police that we get paid on a 4-weekly cycle, being paid on the second thursday of that cycle. So that means you are 2 weeks in arrears and 2 weeks in advance. How does this then work when you first start? Will you get paid the second thursday that you start and only maybe get half pay, and then go from there as you 4-week cycle? Or do you not get paid for 4weeks and get a bumper first pay? Cheers Ruth

Folks, This is your area for discussing all those little things that don't fit anywhere else or would interrupt threads. Whether it's supa's inability to drive pandas or Garymacs poor drinking skills you can discuss (within forum guidelines in here). The hope is that this will enable us to keep the information threads clean and tidy. LV doesn't like untidyness and I don't want locking up in the PS.com nick for poor house keeping and bad admin!! Hi Guys Just wanted to see if anyone had any insider information regarding the timescales invloved in the Northumbria recruitment process. Im currently going through the process, and having recently passed the assessment centre and am awaiting the fitness. The thing is, in sept / oct. 2009 I received a letter from the recruitment dept. saying that they werent going to progress the application until the end of 2010, then about 6 weeks later I received a letter inviting me to the A/C in january. Having attended the A/C in January, the pass letter went on to say that they wouldnt be progressing the application until 2011. Obviously, I just dont know what to think and…

Hi there! Can anyone tell me how much leave a trainee police officer with Northumbria can expect to receive? I realise that you have to take dates according to your training schedule, but what's the annual number of days that you get per year? I'm also assuming the amount of leave entitlement increases over time? TB

Hi there! I'm due to start my training in early 2010, and was wondering if anyone could tell me if all the training takes place at Ponteland, or if it's spread around Durham, and the local operational areas? I am "sans transport" at the moment, and so if I'm going to need to be mobile then I should start thinking about buying some wheels. I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who's recently graduated: What did you think of the training? Easy? Hard? Intensive? Loads of exams etc. Any information gratefully received! TB
